Trading for pick 2

This. Please stop suggesting we move a proven all-pro player for a draft prospect. The 49ers did something similar last year with Defo. Kinlaw could turn into a great player, but as of today, I'm sorry, but it did not work.

If you want to discuss moving an all-pro LB like Fred Warner for a proven QB like Deshaun Watson, that's an entirely different conversation.

Yup.

How would you like to be the GM that trades a perennial all-pro DE after his 2nd year for a draft pick and then picks an absolute bust of a QB? Which, when you look at the list of top 10 selected QBs over the past 20 years, it's a lot more likely the guy is a bust than a star. Trade away a guy raking up 12 sacks a year and end up with Sam Bradford to show for it.
I wonder if allowing tons of our assistants to get plucked away would engender any goodwill from Saleh and the Jets to trade us the #2 pick for Wilson..

Probably have a better chance playing catch with Hank Aaron tomorrow

There is a possibility saleh would want both Warner and Jimmy... Imagine being Saleh moving to the jets...then having to rely on the oc to teach shannahans O which Is known for being immensely complicated...

They would have a qb ready to go who knows the system as well as their defensive playcaller in warner who also know the system..

Jimmy, Warner and #12 for #2 and a 3rd

Jimmy has a no trade clause, you can't just throw him in any trade package.

As for Saleh and Lafleur and installs, they are not the first nor will they be the last coaches that have had to install and teach new schemes. If Saleh was comfortable with Lafleur as OC, he is comfortable with him installing the offense. And they have a couple of other coaches on staff versed in familiarity with the scheme as well.

I'm just saying with the offense it took great qb's like Matt Ryan a year to even get it enough to play free. Jimmy is ready to go if that is a worry for them.

While I agree with Evil that it's unlikely, Harb makes some good points with Jimmy.

I don't see it as a No trade clause, no QB wants to stay somewhere they aren't wanted, it's more of a you can't send me to Detroit clause!

I think Jimmy would love to go to the Jets with Saleh and Lafluer if we don't want him.
Yes this is an interesting scenario and great thread because it's not ridiculous lol. Not sure about JG, but Warner would instantly bring stability to the defensive side of the ball for his scheme.

If they like Darnold then it's not as far fetched as you first think. I'm just thinking then if Niners wouldn't be interested regardless- unless there a QB they love.
I think it's a much more sensible idea to keep our #12 pick...unless Lynch gets an offer for it he just can't refuse. No need to trade up to get a QB...too many picks involved for a team that needs all they have to try to stem the FA exodus. If the plan is and/or becomes keeping Rosen and Jimmy, why not draft a guy like Kellen Mond, who looks to have the size and abilities to play the position. They could groom him to be a future starter and keep the draft picks.
Don't the Jets already have good linebackers? Mosley opted out, but presumably he is back in 2021.

Of course Warner is good enough that it doesn't matter, but it would be an excess.

It's a long shot but it's not ridiculous lol

If they choose to keep Darnold or draft a QB, both wouldn't know the offense.

Jimmy also has limitations offensively, and they are taking on his salary for 2 years in a trade. Is that something they want? What is the long-term plan at QB for the Jets if they made such a move?

If we are trying to trade up for Wilson, why wouldn't the Jets want Wilson for themselves?

Maybe he should love Armstead........
I am not sure we need to get to the #2 to land one of the top 3 QBs. I think there is about a 50/50 chance for both the Jets and Falcons that they take a QB. If i was those two teams , I would be taking a QB but I just don't think they are going to. If even one of them passes on QB than we will be looking at one of the three for sure being there at # 5 unless someone trades up to a higher spot. Which I think is where things get really competitive. I think a lot of teams are going to be trying to trade up to land the guy they like at QB in this draft. I for one am hoping this is the year we make our move for a QB in the draft.

I think you're absolutely right about the Jets and Falcons eyeing other positions, the issue is that the QB's are the best players as well as the demand being sky high.

I wish there was a Bosa or Chase Young in this draft, but there just isn't. Penei Sewell is the only guy who might have you passing on a QB for.

I really like the WR's but that just isn't happening, they'll either pick a QB or trade to someone who does.

Kyle Pitts is interesting but that would be some huge nuts, picking a TE over a franchise QB or monster trade down? Can't see it happening.
