He's the best WR they have had since Julio imo.
Bama is pumping out some studs at WR recently. I legit used to compare Ridley's ceiling to Marvin Harrison in his draft thread, and with Julio having an injury plagued season, Ridley really took that next step and looked uncoverable this season. The funny part is this is without even talking about Jeudy, Ruggs, or Waddle, who all have a chance to be special, especially a healthy Waddle. With that said, I actually agree with you on Smith, even with how much I loved Ridley. He just seems to move so effortlessly like many of the greats who played WR.

I agree moon. We won't draft Smith as we have two solid starters. It's just shocking how many people are fine reaching for a position instead of getting the best players.
it's because they don't know CRAP!!

They don't need another receiver but they could draft him and trade Deebo or Aiyuk if there wasn't another player they liked at #12. They could probably get another 1st and then draft an O lineman. I don't see it happening but it's one scenario.

He's better, but don't be so quick to write either of them off. Denver had Lock dealing with injuries and struggling most of the season, and I'm not sure why Vegas drafted Ruggs with Carr at QB. It just seemed like a poor fit, very similar to Jimmy having a 4.2 guy and he's basically just a decoy most of the time, but they chose to use a high 1st rounder for that.

SEE, basically it's just a difference of opinion... when Julio was coming out, I liked him more than AJ Green.. I thought that Julio would be a perfect partner of Crabtree in our offense.. He was IMO was TO w/speed..
Ridley - I really didn't think he was a 1st rounder and I got bashed for it... and I also thought that RUGGS was just another DeSean Jackson..
Jeudy - the more I watched him the more I'd compare him to Torry Holt..
DeVonta - I see him as another Marvin Harrison

Given this is another deep WR draft, I'd go CB in the 1st, OL in 2nd/3rd.
He will struggle in press coverage but teams do such a good job nowadays scheming these guys open.
BUT, BUT..... I thought you all said that Shanny is a GENIUS..
Wont he be able to design plays where no DBs or LBs can get their hands on DeVonta??
or even send him on a shallow crossing route over the middle ??
I'd like to see IF the best of the best CBs now use that press coverage in a crossing route..
Umm.. I like Shanny a lot.. I dont necessarily think hes a genius.. and I doubt I've ever said that.
I wouldn't be opposed to drafting him, I just dont think wide receiver is an issue for us. We have a lot of holes to fill.

Depends on what player is there.

Yeah his feet are electric and he's got extremely long arms, plus he's much stronger than his frame looks. He's showed up in all games vs nfl caliber corners.
I love the Marvin Harrison comp, minus any shady off field dealings

Imagine..
Jimmy G.
Raheem
Kittle
Aiyuk
Juice
Deebo
DeVonta
Even if Jimmy is s**t that'd be an unstoppable offense so long as the o-line doesn't regress much.
I have us picking DeVonta with our first pick in my "jimmy stays" version mock draft. But he aint lastin to 12

Diminishing returns. That's what I see. We already have guys running around wide open that aren't getting the ball. Our QB can't push the ball down the field; our OL can't pass block.
Drafting Devonta Smith doesn't make us significantly better because it doesn't address the gaping holes on our team. It's like putting rims on a car that needs suspension and engine work.

I don't understand how so many people don't think WR is an issue for us when Deebo and Aiyuk missed so much time for us cause they play violent and will probably have injury prone careers. How many games this season were they both available? 1-2? There were several games
This season our starting wr's were Bourne,Taylor , cracraft and James. How pathetic is that! Not one of those guys is anything better than a #4 wr and a couple of these guys couldn't make any other teams' roster cause they are terrible. You really trust Deebo and Aiyuk to stay healthy all season? And if they don't we're left starting Bourne, Taylor, cracraft again? Guys that the opposing defense doesn't even need to worry about covering lol. I'd happily take a stud wr if available.

Imagine Stafford throwing to Aiyuk and Devonta 🤤
