DeVonta Smith>WR>Alabama

I've been saying it for months: Marvin Harrison and Isaac Bruce
Yeah, but you're also talking play style, how they win and what they might look like in the league. None of that is Jackson.

I get the size concerns, where do you think he should be drafted?

The guy is just so good.

He's like Randy Moss with the musculature of a young Bo Derek.
Oh, he'll go top 10 for sure and rightfully so. The dude is a baller.

This discussion reminds me of a post a certain poster(who else posts like they're drunk all the time) made the other day. He said Aiyuk should study Randy Moss to learn how to go up and get the ball. He completely ignored the fact that Randy Moss was 6'4"(4 inches taller than Aiyuk) with 51" vertical(craziest vert of all time).

Lol
Smith may get hurt in the NFL but you can't base your draft on that. Big strong guys get hurt too. He runs routes like a seasoned pro and has great hands. His speed is more than enough to get deep when you combine it with his moves.

And if he falls out of the top 10, to say #12?

You take an edge rusher

I think Kyle would draft Pitts over Smith. A TE is a lot more multiple in this offense than a WR. It's incredibly difficult to match up with an elite receiving TE moreso than a WR. Not even the most elite cover LBs/S can consistently keep up with guys like Kittle and Kelce. It's a giant mismatch that the league has struggled to answer since guys like Gonzalez and Gronk showed up. Also, TEs are super cheap, so if you nail the pick, it's a lot more affordable to extend a TE than a WR.

But I don't think he's going with either. We have more pressing needs at more important positions. We need OL/DL/QB help. It doesn't look good for us and Trent Williams with each passing day.

Fair enough, I've only seen Pitts Vs Georgia & Bama, but he doesn't look like he blocks well enough for Kyle.

I'd rather there was a great player available in one of those positions of need, but I'm not certain there will be.

If that happens I'd take Smith

+1 I like Pitts but he's barely a TE. He's a big WR. Still, I like him a lot in our offense.

Get Pitts in the room with George Kittle and he'll want to block. We can also use that to our advantage opting to put a blocking tight end in over him on occasion to sell the play action.

I just don't see the love with him in the top 10. Floor is John Ross with a ceiling of maybe Steve Smith, but most likely Desean Jackson. I feel like Pitts is a generational talent, whereas DeVona Smith is just this years Henry Ruggs, whom I loved. Would rather draft Pitts as a big slot WR. If Juice Walks, I think Jordan Reed might end up filling the H-Back/Full back role, if he is still on team.

My other top choices would be cornernack or offensive line. Unless we trade down, I don't see us drafting this guy. He's overhyped. Peter Warrick was sick af too

Not sure a Heismann trophy, double National championship winning, best WR in a group of 3 other 1st round WR's can be overhyped.

On a side note I doubt we have to worry about choosing between Pitts & Smith, pretty unlikely they're both available.

How about this guy if he's available at 12?
