Daelin Hayes, EDGE, Notre Dame

  • 6-4, 261 lbs
  • 32-inch arm length

Hayes is the first reported edge player with whom the 49ers have met. I haven't watched his tape yet, but I did see some of his Senior Bowl stuff. He looked good. Right off the bat, you've got a dude with prototypical size but lacking length.

He's got the Yannick Ngakoue cross-chop/club in his arsenal. I love the active hands. Never stops working until he's cleared contact.

Wide-split work

Speed 2 Power. Nice pad level here, hand placement and finish with the feet. Get those eyes up and find the QB!

Very nice, might have to fire up some more ND games, saw the game Vs Bama, but didn't know to look for him.

Also you say he lacks length, but doesn't he just lack height? 80" wingspan on a smaller body is perfect IMO.

Can win with the longarm and have leverage at the same time.
Nice, he's looking like a day 3 guy (4th-5th rd) from what I've seen in big boards. Good thing SF has a s**t ton of picks around that range
ND always presents some of those under the radar NFL pass rushers. Every time I watched ND games this past season, I always noticed more JOK and Kyle Hamilton. This kid doesn't look bad at all.

Does Hayes ever put his hand in the dirt? I didn't watch much ND games

Honestly, I think it was pretty rare. They had him all over the front 7 and majority of the time that I remember, he was standing.
I watched hi against Michigan and I was thoroughly unimpressed. Plus run defender who sets a hard edge, but a remarkably average pass rusher. Maybe a good value in the 4th? Idk there are just so many other edge guys I like more who offer more when it comes to getting after the quarterback.

Oh definitely a day 3 pick. His performance during the Senior Bowl week definitely increased his stock a bit. I also see a 4th round prospect.
