Saw a couple of games on this kid and he really stood out and just got reminded of him in a draft article.
Super fast and has the route running to become dangerous. He looks the part of Tyreek Hill, 100%. Shanahan would love this guy.
I think Shanahan's draft strategy is to draft a OW in the top 3 rounds every year, so I wouldnt be surprised to see us take a RB/TE/WR in the 2nd or 3rd. He is currently slated to go in the 2nd, but I think he can shoot up to late first if he has a good 40 time at his pro day. Wouldn't mind taking him in the 2nd (maybe a small trade up) with Hurd being a question mark and Shanahan still not having his burner to stretch the field.

always figured he'd be a 2nd or 3rd round prospect, but recently been seeing him nabbed as a late 1st rounder.

I watched Elijah the other day, and I love this guy. He's totally Shanny's type. I don't know if he's Tyreek Hill fast(truthfully, nobody is), but he's definitely fast. His route running is absolutely filthy.
Unfortunately, it seems like he's going to go a lot earlier than we're likely to draft a WR.

Yeah, I think the only way we get him is if we trade back in the first round and nab him with our 1st, which Im not opposed to because im all for gaining more 2nds and 3rds. We got quite a few holes and there is a lot of great talent there.

He could go late first, but there's still a chance he slips to the top of the 2nd. Man would he be perfect here. I need to stop getting my hopes up for anyone though.
Moore and Terry are my guys right now. We need that size/speed mismatch at WR so bad.

I know this guy is now becoming my top draft crush. But with Jimmy's inability to hit the deep ball consistently would limit Moore's effectiveness. But hey, Alex Smith made due with Tyreek Hill and he is even more deep ball challenged than Jimmy

People are so enamored with Hill's speed that they forget he is actually a good receiver that runs good routes and has pretty good hands. There are other guys that are as fast or nearly as fast but they just aren't as good.

There's nobody as fast as Tyreek Hill. Some are close, but nobody as fast as him on the field. I think most people have accepted he's the fastest player ever to play on a football field. And it's not just his long speed, but his ability to stop, start and change direction is unmatched.
It is pretty surprising how good of a route runner he's become in the NFL. Most fans don't remember the dude was a RB in college.

When you start comparing guys that fast you are talking about hundredths of a second. The difference between 4.25 and 4.27. This is really nothing on the football field. It's really about getting off the line and shedding your coverage. When you get doubled the speed can get nullified so technique comes into play. It was just last year that everyone was all excited over Ruggs and his great speed. He barely did anything this year. Obviously, Mostert and Breida aren't receivers but they have both been clocked at the highest speeds in the league
Speed is great but it has to be combined with skill and it has to be controlled. Some of these fast guys just run as fast as they can and don't have that next gear to put the moves on the defender. Hill has that ability and that's what really makes him dangerous. . Not just the speed.
By the way, before people start saying he's the fastest player to ever step on a football field I think they are forgetting Olypic champion sprinters like Ray Norton, Bob Hayes and Renaldo Nehemiah. Dion Sanders in his prime was a blur.

In my nearly 70 years of watching the NFL, Sayers and Sanders were the most fun to watch. Both had amazing moves and could retain their speed throughout the moves. I know Barry didn't have Hill's speed and I don't thnk Sayers did but they were more exciting to watch. An old time Niner was in that category too. Hugh McElhenny.

I don't hate fast players, I just think too many people equate speed with greatness. The facts are that most super fast receivers aren't great. Hill is and I said he's an exceptional receiver. Show me something that proves the fastest guys are the best players. I think that too many fast players just rely on their speed and never really learn how to run routes and break coverages. Ruggs was much faster than Aiyuk but which one had a better rookie season. Aiyuk had to play with backups for most of the year. Ruggs may turn out to be a good receiver but he needs to improve.

It only takes a tenth of a second to make a false step. Yes, every tenth counts. Football is a game of inches.
And for clarity, nobody is saying Tyreek is great solely because of his speed. But his speed augments everything on the field.
