WR Elijah Moore - Ole Miss (The next Tyreek Hill?)

Lol right. If you asked DCs around the league which player keeps them up at night, I bet you'd get more Tyreek Hill answers than anyone else. You know what speed truly does? It shrinks the room for error, and with Hill, his speed is so game breaking that he essentially forces you to play perfect. I mean does any fan base know this better than us? It only took 1 busted coverage in the SB for everything to unravel.

I don't hate fast players, I just think too many people equate speed with greatness. The facts are that most super fast receivers aren't great. Hill is and I said he's an exceptional receiver. Show me something that proves the fastest guys are the best players. I think that too many fast players just rely on their speed and never really learn how to run routes and break coverages. Ruggs was much faster than Aiyuk but which one had a better rookie season. Aiyuk had to play with backups for most of the year. Ruggs may turn out to be a good receiver but he needs to improve.

fast isn't just running a fast 40...it's about being quick and explosive. Like Hero said no wasted steps. Having a plan.

Good coaches know how to use that speed properly, I wouldn't say Ruggs was used incorrectly this past yr. Aiyuk is much faster than his 40 time. That much was clear if you watch his college film ( he was also not 100% at the combine). He's a 4.4 guy and that's fast.

Speed is a god given talent. You can learn how to run routes, that's all about drive and work. OBJ at one point had all that. Dude can't stay healthy though.

absolutely! This game is turning into an explosive score points game. dinking and dunking for 15 play drives isn't it anymore...more chances for f**k ups.
I don't know what they put in the water at Ole' Miss lately, but after A J Brown and D J Metcalf ignore the school's wide outs at your own peril. I think the 40 in no football equipment is a bit misleading. Jerry Rice 40 was considered slow, but on the field he was fast enough to run away from most defenders.

It only takes a tenth of a second to make a false step. Yes, every tenth counts. Football is a game of inches.

And for clarity, nobody is saying Tyreek is great solely because of his speed. But his speed augments everything on the field.

I acknowledged that. He's an exception to most super fast receivers. He's definitely not the fastest player to ever set foot on an NFL field. He is probably the fastest now but the difference between 4.24, 4.25 and 4.27 is so small that it doesn't make a lot of difference. You mentioned his speed on the field and that's what does matter. I'd like to see all the guys that ran 4.35 and under run against each other in football gear. That would be better than watching a Pro Bowl. If you look at the fastest top speed currently in the NFL, Mostert has the 2 fastest times with Breida not far behind although Breida has has some knee injuries since he hit 22.3 MPH. Hill has the 5th fastest top speed. I'd take him even if he was only the 10th or 15th fastest. He can play.as we found out last year. Then yoyu have John Ross who had the fastest 40 ever but has never been timed as fast at his top speed.

There are some that say Bo Jackson was timed at 4.19 at his combine but that was hand timed. Still incredible for a guy that was big as him.

The Niners explosive plays are a handoff to Mostert who breaks it for 60 yards. He's our Hill but he can't break those runs as often as Mahomes can find Hill.

I always talk with my boy about how the Chiefs are football's version of the Warriors. There are so many parallels. The Warriors changing the game with the 3; Chiefs changing offenses with explosives. Steph Curry being able to create his own shot; Patrick Mahomes being able to create his own play, etc

Let's see if they fall apart with injuries and players leaving like the Warriors. That may be the only way the league can stop them.

Well if we get someone that can stretch the field and have a more opposing passing game, Mostert will be running wild. Our offense would be unstoppable. But i have question marks with JimmyG's deepball.
I really haven't see this kid play, but one of his teammates TE Kenny Yeboah looked good in the Sr Bowl. I think the Niners need to get a good pass-catching TE to compliment Kittle. Great as George is, his all-out style of play continues to get him hurt. We've got good speed at the WR position, but finding a guy with some size, speed and toughness at slot receiver would be great. Amari Rodgers from Clemson has those traits and also looked great in the Sr Bowl. Maybe Moore could also be a candidate to fill that role.

THE more you watch this guy play the more I see AB and YUCK in him !!

he wont take him in the 12, but the team that lands him later 1st will be lucky.

Rice's 40 was faster than the legend says. He did not run it at 4.7 or 4.8 or whatever. It was in the 4.5 range.

But anyway, Moore doesn't look quite as fast as Hill, but he does seem to have a similar level of control, so I can see why some are reminded of Hill.

Jerry Rice would run a 4.3 with the amount of training specificity these guys do nowadays. Some of these guys now are dialing in their technique so well on some drills(ex: 40-yard dash) that their time doesn't match their speed on tape.

I think that was the issue with Kevin White.

But it's not always like that. DK Metcalf seems to be as fast on the field as his 40 time.
