What position group is SF drafting round 1 in 2021?

Wanted to see what the consensus is out there after FA - seems like team does not have any glaring needs at key positions and is all in on JG in 2021....but given how the roster is set up doesn't seem we'll be drafting this high in awhile so if we're in striking distance for a QB that Shanahan likes - drafting a QB this year makes the most sense.

We have 9 picks in next year's draft (2022) so giving up some picks this year to move up seems very possible....

On the other hand, SF always have been about value so if a blue chip player falls to 12 could seeing them go this route too and just delay the QB problem for another year and bank of JG being healthy.

1. If Lance, Fields, or Jones are available (at #12 or a trade), then that's #1 priority.
2. If #1 isn't possible or feasible, then OT
3. If #1 & #2 aren't possible or feasible, then CB
4. If #1 through #3 aren't possible or feasible, then another pass rusher.

I agree with this except switch 2 and 3 around. We need a lockdown corner we havent had a true lockdown corner in years. Carlos Rodgers was the closest thing.

But this is assuming Shanahan even thinks highly of all Lance, Fields or Jones - he won't draft a QB unless he absolutely loves the prospect - will be interesting

Agreed after QB can go so many routes - unless a "blue chip player" is there I think trading down probably best option since only have 2 picks in top 100 - can hit on pass rusher and OL

The problem is there isn't an edge rusher worth taking at 12. If they go DE they need to trade down and grab more picks. Because you can get the best DE around 20.

Yeah I could see a trade down then draft DE like jaelan phillips or azeez ojulari

That's what I'm expecting. I feel like a QB or Farley are the only other real options. I'm not a GM or HC though.

I see them trading Jimmy G to Patriots and using that Pick to trade up to 4th spot to draft trey Lance or fields. They will sign someone like flacco to bring some experience.

If Jones is there at 12, I think you have to take him. Even if he is not going to start in 2021. Niners would have their QB of the future.

I'm gonna say Other as in BPA, and if a QB falls to the end of rd 1, ala Lamar Jackson in 2018, I can see John trading our 2nd and 4th to get back into rd 1 to take that QB. Honestly though, I don't have a clue about the top prospects, just a few, wouldn't mind Patrick Surtain, Ja'Marr Chase, Devonta Smith, Kyle Pitts, or Rashawn Slater at 12. Wyatt Davis would be great in rd 2 if we don't trade back into rd 1, I hope we stay away from IOL in rd 1, last time was a horror with Joshua Garnett.

I feel confident that if it's not a QB, it's gonna be a DE
