I think we actually cam away pretty well in this deal considering that we didn't have to give up anything this year outside of swapping 1sts.
This deal wouldn't have happened if we hadn't been able to sign Trent though, he was the lynchpin in our entire free agency strategy. Getting him back, I think, signaled to our other FAs that we were serious and making a run and almost all of them fell right back in quickly after the Trent/Mack middle of the night signings.
We filled all of the holes that we had, so we felt emboldened enough to go out and make this kind of move with our pick capital.

I think both guys available at 3, likely Fields and Lance, won't be great fits. Mac Jones would be a good fit, an upgrade on Jimmy G., and playing on a rookie deal, but he could probably be had at the 6 spot that Miami just snagged from Philly.
I think there's a damn good chance Jones would be available at #12. Hell, if the draft simulator has any value he'd be available in the 2nd round like that shows every time I run it.
We put our dicks on the table by moving to #3, we did it for a very specific reason.
Well, from what I've seen of Trey Lance, he looks like Colin Kapernick 2.0, so I hope we didn't just put our dicks on the table for that. I think Fields would be more safe, though I didn't like the take I saw that he gets sacked too much when his first read isn't there. That sounds all too familiar. Zack Wilson I am less familiar with, though he seems to be consensus #2, so irrelevant.

I feel like the only way this makes sense is if the team is either (1) really sold on 2 QBs not named Lawrence or (2) the Jets convinced Lynch they won't draft a QB or trade the pick, leaving our guy there at #3.
The first scenario seems most likely. The Jets aren't going to give away their plans. Hell, they probably don't even know what they'll do yet.
If I had to guess, I'd say this looks like Wilson, followed by Lance.

I was thinking the same. Saleh probably told Shanny he wasn't going QB.
Im hoping Wilson is the pick. That's was my OG QB draft crush but I didn't believe he would fall to #12.

Blockbuster deal with massive ramifications for years to come.
No no no no fing way.
No. I refuse to believe. This is a joke. Is it April 1? Someone pinch me.
I was literally throwing in the towel today on getting a QB
Yeah I had started investing Mond and Mills several weeks ago. I am still shocked, and have to eat my crow on Shanahan's and Lynch's newly discovered scrota.

Get #15 and then trade it up to get Pitts too.

There's also a scenario where the Jets know who they want and are willing to trade down a slot and still draft them.
