I really hope they don't pick Mac Jones at #3.
This mock from NFLdraftBuzz has been published after the trade and fortunately - has us picking Fields.

Hope: Zach Wilson will somehow drop
Realistically achievable: Justin Fields
What the Niners will do: Mac Jones

This.
Wouldn't be mad - all I wanted was a QB in round 1. Whoever Kyle's guy is. While I have my preferences....Wilson...he is prob not available so I'm fine with any of the remaining three.
Love the aggression here.

I expect Wilson to go 2, so out of the 3 remaining:
Mac Jones - Lowest ceiling; highest floor; little risk
Trey Lance - Highest ceiling; lowest floor; massive risk
Justin Fields - High ceiling; middle floor; modest risk
After a massive trade up to 3, Justin Fields makes the most sense of the 3 to me. But there are things I like(and don't) about all 3, so whichever one they draft, I'll be excited about.

You've already brought on all the risk in the world by moving 2 future firsts. You realize Mac Jones safe floor is not even Jimmy G. Now thats a big gamble.

I think it will be Wilson or Lance.
You don't trade that much to play it safe. If you wanted to play it safe, you trade for someone like Matt Stafford or Sam Darnold....a veteran QB.
You trade these picks for what you think is a "special" talent.

Mac Jones floor is Kirk Cousins and his ceiling is Matt Ryan when Shanny had him in Atlanta. Jones has very little in common with Jimmy, other than neither have A+ arms and both are pocket passers. Jones is more accurate, better deep ball, better pocket awareness, and takes care of the football. The only skill Jimmy does better is his ridiculously quick release.

Same. I am actually okay with Jones here, even though Niner fans won't be.

I agree, but you can't leave Fields out of this group.
I love Mac, but you don't trade away multiple first to play it safe. This trade says Shanny and Lynch are swinging for the fences, and I don't see them doing that with Mac, UNLESS they truly see him as another Joe Burrow type that is being overlooked by media heads outside the NFL, but those inside are much higher on him. Who knows how he'd be talked about if he weren't in a class with guys like Lawrence, Wilson and Lance/Fields. The guy did just have one of the best season's in NCAA history.
