I have no idea which way they are leaning but if Kyle can't find a way to succeed with Fields or Lance then that's on him. Coaches can have their system but they should be able to change it a little to use the athletic traits. That doesn't mean going to an all out option style offense like the Ravens. Andy Reid went from Smith to Mahomes. It can be done. I think if Kyle doesn't add to his offense, teams will clamp down and start taking away from all that YAC. They don't fear the deep pass and they don't worry about the QB running so the DBs can play tight and the D line can pinch in and crush the QB. The offense is starting to look too repetitive.

If WE land Wilson he will be the next Drew Brees
if WE land Fields the next Deshaun Watson
If WE land Lance the next Mahomes
if we land Mac Jones, he will be Mac Jones
if WE land Fields the next Deshaun Watson
If WE land Lance the next Mahomes
if we land Mac Jones, he will be Mac Jones

Interesting comparisons. But I think Mac Jones compares more to Matt Ryan myself.
my heart wants Lance, but my brain has come to terms with Jones.

if Jones looked like this I'd say draft him

I'm getting my mind around the idea of Mac Jones at #3. If it happens it will always feel like an unnecessary reach unless he turns in to the second coming of Aaron Rodgers . . . it would be like Shanahan and Lynch are trying to forecast in advance the always fun "three years later" re-drafts the media likes to perform. If it pans out they may look like geniuses . . . or not.

Mac isn't a done deal, according to our countdown specialist, draft isn't for another 29 days from today. But I like Mac, I like Fields, Lance is 3rd in my book. If Kyle is coaching Mac, I think he can be a Matt Ryan. I think thats good possibility with all the offensive talent already in place.
Worst case scenario he's Jimmy 2.0 and takes us to the super bowl. I think if John and Adam keep working on Kyle, I give 50/50 odds that its Fields vs Mac at draft time. Right now, I think if Kyle had to decide- I think its Mac. But I think Kyle's mind will become much firmer one way or the other after Fields pro day.

Slightly undersized honky, decent mobility, accurate passer. I don't know, I was just making s**t up for affect. Mac Jones is boring, might work out, who knows

If they draft Lance or Fields, I wouldn't be against them drafting another QB in a later round. Maybe someone slides back and they can pick up a guy that can be a reliable backup and possible future trade bait.

Wilson, Fields, Jones, never even saw Lance play so I can't comment on him.
I'd want Fields to fix his elbow in his throws, that extra time can mean quick slants aren't as viable. I just don't like the Tebow/Vick windup.
I'd want Jones to fix his whole body and dedicate himself to getting into better football shape. Doesn't have to look jacked, just less like a guy you'd sit next to at a tavern.

The more I watch of Fields, Lance, and Jones....the more comfortable I get with whoever Shanahan picks.
Sure, I have my preferences. But all 3 of these guys have traits that I think Shanahan could have success with. Bottom line, I trust Shanahan to make the right decision after pouring over the film and meeting with these players individually. There's been reports that he's already met with Trey Lance 3 times and we're still almost a month away from the draft. So the level of due diligence being done on these 3 guys is through the roof. Hell, even his dad is scouting these players.
When it's all said and done, I think Shanahan will have a great feel for who will be the best in his offense and on this team. And if he picks wrong, he's probably out of here in a couple years and we can spend the next few years talking about how he blew it lol.
I'm usually never "trust the process" guy but I'm oddly confident they'll get this right.

that's great news, Kyle *should* be meeting with all the prospective QB's multiple times. He can do that now without having to hide it. I think any of the three QB's mentioned (Mac, Fields, Lance) can take this team to the super bowl with the current level talent it has (after a year or two of acclimation and learning Kyle's scheme). These 3 QB's are all athletically superior to Jimmy, with Mac being closest to Jimmy, and from an intangibles standpoint, I think they can all develop to a greater degree than Nick Mullens. As long as Kyle can make the playoffs, he's not going to get fired.
