I don't think they realized how engaged and vocal the fanbase would become about the pick and it's disdain for mortgaging this entire rosters competitive window for an noodle arm "starting qb" everyone expects them to draft over two other prospects who are considered superior talents.

They looked uncomfortable and Kyle very defensive. I think his comment that this wasn't a massive move for the franchise was out of touch and arrogant. I wonder if he said the same thing to Jed. Same as it's on him to deal with the consequences. He forgets fans have already been dealing with 15 years of dysfunction and mistakes before his arrival.

This is just fan hysteria. Whoever we take, there is a good chance they won't see much of anything this year. So the judgement won't start until the end of next season. Other than the fans, of course, who want them sacked straight away if they don't take their favorite qb.

And replaced with...... hmm, why worry about that?

Whichever qb they take has an excellent chance of succeeding.

That's an excellent post! Yes, we fans matter. At the end of the day, I still think Kyle will not compromise his position but I think understands he's potentially pissing off a lot of folks.

That's an excellent post! Yes, we fans matter. At the end of the day, I still think Kyle will not compromise his position but I think understands he's potentially pissing off a lot of folks.

A franchise can't base their draft picks on wha the fans think. They do a lot more research on these guys than any of us do. If they let the fans pick they could just do an online poll. I'm sure they would like the fans to be happy but their job is winning. In the end, that makes the fans happy.

You're right, but that's the same deal regardless of who we pick. If it doesn't result in consistent winning they're all out.

As soon as we moved up the seat got hotter, and no one really knows which of these guys will bust.

In 2018 I thought it would be Josh Allen, he's the best. Plenty more thought Rosen would be the best, he's a dud.

No way to know for sure, but my feeling is that if they take Lance or Fields and it doesn't work they could still keep their jobs. Trading that many picks to take a guy nobody else thinks should go that high is different. It would show a much deeper and more negligent miscalculation.

NFL history is full of great coaches whose downfall was when they were given personnel control.

I think fields should be the pick. But if Kyle hits on jones he should be considered one of the greats because that will mean we have won multiple super bowls with jones. all will be forgiven in Niner Nation. I don't have a problem with how many first round picks we give up he just has to hit on this pick. If Kyle is willing to mortgage his future and the franchises near future on Mac Jones he must really see something we all don't see. Remember .... Kyle thinks he's the smartest guy in the room...... regardless of what scouts or John Lynch says he's going to refer back to himself. We're about to find out if Kyle's really a genius or just a good offensive coordinator. finally, I'm a niner for life and no coach or gm is going to change that. Go Niners.

It's sort of like DK Metcalf. He was talked down and fell as most realized he required a lot of work or would need to be in special plays in order to accentuate his abilities. But the ONE team that made sense in terms of fit ended up drafting him and we are all like, f**k!

Nobody gonna be like, "f**k!" if we draft Mac Jones. Kyles offense would be scary with a QB that can also run.

Yeah, the smokescreen talk normally makes sense EXCEPT IN THIS INSTANCE WHERE I DONT UNDERSTAND WHAT WE STAND TO BENEFIT FROM A SMOKESCREEN.

If this is just to keep things "close to the chest" okay yeah sure but why the f**k ARE THERE ALL THESE REPORTS ABOUT MAC JONES.
