I wish I believed that
Why smokescreen at #3 when 1 and 2 are already set? Not like they're looking to move or trade out or having to worry that someone doesn't leapfrog them.

But are the Jets really sold on Wilson? Do we know for sure they WON'T take Fields, Jones or Lance? Maybe they've been the one doing the smokescreen for all this time. We have to endure the what if's for at least 48 more hours and it's so freaking annoying.

Jets are sold on Wilson. He is going #2.

Yeah, the smokescreen talk normally makes sense EXCEPT IN THIS INSTANCE WHERE I DONT UNDERSTAND WHAT WE STAND TO BENEFIT FROM A SMOKESCREEN.

If this is just to keep things "close to the chest" okay yeah sure but why the f**k ARE THERE ALL THESE REPORTS ABOUT MAC JONES.

The team don't leak. Surely you realise that? All the rumours, gossip, invention, smoke, everything is coming from the internet. Which is what makes it so funny when posters here get so het up and emotional.

I mean, stating the team doesn't leak doesn't mean the team is incapable of ever leaking. Also, you saw yesterdays presser. Read into that what you will.
No college quarterback is worth what we are giving up to get them...

Too late

Lawrence is

And to be fair, I think Wilson, Fields, and Lance all are. The value of getting a good QB on a rookie deal is enormous.

Alex Smith with an even weaker arm

Nobody gonna be like, "f**k!" if we draft Mac Jones. Kyles offense would be scary with a QB that can also run.

I agree Mac Jones isn't scary in the sense of athleticism but if he can master Kyle's offense and be accurate that's all we need. Besides wouldn't it be that much sweeter if we were the laughing stock of the division fan base and Mac Jones ends up being a stud?

While adding a running qb to mix with the Shanahan's legendary run scheme sounds amazing, It's not what they do, why tinker with what's not broken and potentially get you franchise qb hurt in the process

It's steep but two of the 1st will likely be in the 25th+ range and more than likely 2 of those 1sts will be a "starter" or bust. This trade does seem to be a move to save cap space while Kyle sees a player that's a "scheme fit" which I'm wary of, you don't make that kind of trade unless you think you have a bona fide star but what are you supposed to do when you're in a championship window and your starting qb keeps getting hurt

BINGO. Thank you!
Lol @ smokescreen. There is literally no reason to do that. They are taking DUI Jones.

But the bold is developmental, which, if coached right, any QB should be able to learn.

Im going to vomit Thursday.
I'm hoping they'll pick Lance...some analysts have said he's the biggest risk among the top candidates. Maybe so, but he also has an unbelievable ceiling to become a great NFL QB. If the pick is Jones, it's definitely not the end of the world. Mac is an extremely accurate passer...77.4%, are you kidding me? Gets the ball out quickly and makes good decisions. Throws receivers open...think about that in terms of both Samuel and Aiyuk (not to mention Kittle). We haven't had a QB do all those things for quite some time. So, we'll see soon enough who the QB will be. The buzz around the NFL's GM's is the Niners will trade Jimmy this week...per Peter King on The Herd today, SF's had teams calling about Jimmy, some even offering a #2 pick. If Jimmy stays and gets hurt again, his trade value would plummet. Another 2nd rd pick would surely come in very handy on day 2 of the draft. It's smart to get something for Jimmy while they can. A top flight interior OL, LB, CB, TE would be great. This may not be a rant, per se, but what I'm saying is we have to trust Shanahan to get the QB he feels can win in Sept.
