Where would you be willing to draft Najee Harris?

It seems like it in recent years especially. That and the fact that Shanny has a long list of nobody's that have had great seasons, I would rather have an impact player on defense. I'd love to have him in the 3rd but he won't last that long of course.
2 Alabama picks early would be epic

Some mocks have him falling top of the second which would be insane, but I doubt that happens.

This is the problem with Kyle's offense. It makes everyone better, so we all want the bargain that will play well. That being said, talent is talent and putting an elite talent like Harris in his offense would be insanity.

I agree tho, we gave up a lot to move up and have some holes. In a hear or so we may have the luxury of snagging a top back.

Usually. But we have a really great roster with too much draft picks for our roster. I would not be surprised if we liked Harris that much. Kyle said awhile back that if he thought a rb was dynamic, like saquon was, it would be worth that pick. Unless they fall in love with a corner, if we traded up im willing to bet that it's for Harris. I'm going with my theory that kyle going to bamas pro day is for Harris while under the guise that we are looking at Mac.

This is a bad approach imo. Same justification as KC made last year when they drafted CEH, then their O-Line proceeded to fall apart in he playoffs, costing them any shot in the Super Bowl.

Even a "perfect" NFL roster needs more depth, needs a continual influx of young talent on inexpensive rookie contracts to maintain itself.

Take valuable players. Don't justify sub-optimal picks by saying our roster is already great.

Agreed. I voted for 3rd or later. It isn't to say I'd never take a back in the 1st or 2nd, because if I see a bigger back that fits this system, can block, catch, pick up short yardage, and could handle 25 carries in this system, I'd do it. I like Mostert, Wilson, and Hasty but I don't see any of the three as 1600 scrimmage yards per year type of guys. The Shanahan system CAN work with a late round or UDFA back, but that type of thinking is similar to sticking with the Kirk Cousins style of QB.

Problem is while we have a talented roster, our holes on O-line and at corner could come back to haunt us. I'm also not counting on any non starting receiver on our roster. By my count, we could conceivably use all 9 picks and if the rookies show enough, all could make the roster. We need a guard and a center. If they keep Brunskill at guard then add tackle to the list. Could use another edge rusher. We need two corners. A safety could make the roster. A returner could make the roster. We need a no. 2 TE.

Fortunately we have the capital and can move up (or back) as needed to round out our roster. Hope these picks work out so that a RB can be a legitimate target with our earlier picks next year.

I hear you, but bpa can fall into your lap and you gotta take him.
I left room for that exception

Agreed. I would like to see Kyle's offense with more elite players on offense. Having a back that you could hand off to 25 + times would be great. Especially for a young QB.
LOL when was the last time a draft prospect said something like this??

I love it. Wish we could still get him and still pick up a starting caliber guard, center, and edge prospect.

We already have two good backs.

Sure.

But Mostert is 29 years old and history isn't really kind to RBs after 30. Plus, we have needed a committee of 4 or 5 guys each season. I don't see drafting a guy, even highly, as being a bad idea.

Mustard is injury prone, not a full-time back
Jeff Wilson is solid but no DC is staying up late worrying about him.

Harris would be expensive but having a true bell cow RB would be a boon for this offense. A guy that can contribute in both the run and pass games, stay on the field for all three downs, that could make this offense even more explosive.

The team obviously has interest in him as apparently they've made extensive contact with Harris and they were never going to take him at #12 so my guess is that he's a good possibility if he falls into a range they are comfortable moving up in.

Regardless of who the QB is, Harris would be a major boost for them and if they did take someone like Fields, combining him with Harris on RPO's would be absolutely filthy.

Is Mostert 29 already? s**t, maybe it's not a bad idea then.

I say take him in the 2nd, late 1st.

He's the next most impactful non-Qb after Pitts.

I would trade up for him. Late first makes sense to me.
