Michael Carter RB North Carolina

Can't believe that no one has put up a post about this kid. Besides the obvious 49ers connection with this kid's name, Carter had a dominant week at the Senior Bowl and was the other half of the Tarheels two headed monster at RB with Javonte Williams. This kid would be a great addition as a day 2 pick to the backfield as a 3rd down back and a rotational RB. Here is his scouting report from The Draft Network:

North Carolina running back Michael Carter was a steady presence in the Tar Heels backfield since 2017 but truly broke out over his final two seasons, where he collected 2,669 yards from scrimmage and 16 touchdowns. He has terrific vision, burst, elusiveness, receiving skills, and decision-making as a runner that makes him so productive. While he is on the leaner side, Carter is a good inside and outside runner. He does well to make intelligent and timely cuts while blending patience with decisiveness, making his blocks right, and running to daylight. While he isn't overly dynamic when it comes to contact balance and breaking tackles, he is slippery and his wiggle enables him to find yards after contact. For a team looking to employ a two-back system, Carter would be an outstanding complementary option to another back that brings size and power components to the table.

He's an excellent fit for the 49ers.

Personally, if the team wants to go high on a running back, i'd look to try and trade back up to the 1st for Najee. I know that's a pipe dream, though.

Baby steps, AJ. Shanahan normally gets UDFA's for his RB's. Can't expect him to go all the way to the first round to get his guy. If he is willing to get a RB in the third or fourth round, we should be happy.

Had to go there lol. But the truth is, Mostert has the same problem Jimmy has and both actually were hurt in the same season. We see our offense is totally different without Mostert and considering we are down Coleman and McKinnon, we likely do have room for another running back. The 4th or 5th round is a good place.
Pass. No more scat back type of RBs.

I hear you Joe. He apparently brings some power even though he has a small frame, but there should be other "bigger backs" like his teammate Javonte Williams, Bryan Robinson Jr. (Alabama), Chris Evans (Michigan), Gerrid Doaks (Cincinnati), Trey Ragas (Louisiana), etc. available this year.

It's a pipe dream but also not impossible. Niners are known to be active on draft day. I would love this move if happens.

Daniel Jeremiah also just said based off his conversation with other nfl sources, no running backs will be taken in the 1st.
