Have the 49ers leaked who they are drafting at #3 (i.e. Mac Jones)

This isn't a replacement to the Mac Jones thread where the discussion on is whether it would be a good idea to draft him. This thread is to focus on the media hype that has a ton of insiders saying it is a lock that Jones is going to 49ers at #3. Does anyone outside of Kyle/Lynch know who is being drafted?

I want to give a story about the drafting of Alex Smith. The 49ers, leading up to the draft were talking about drafting Aaron Rodgers. So the rest of the league was talking about trading up to #2 to get Alex Smith. The 49ers noticed the way the rest of the league was thinking, and switched to Alex Smith first to get someone to trade for the pick, and then they opted to actually select him #1 overall.

The funny thing would be if Kyle/Lynch are doing the Mac Jones whisper campaign to keep everyone in the dark on who they plan to pick, and the Jets then convince themselves that they should be picking Mac instead of Zach Wilson.

I believe that nobody knows except Lynch and Shanny and even they are still only about 85% decided. Anyone who says they know is full of s**t.

Schefter doesn't just make stuff up out of thin air. He deals with owners/GM's/head coaches/agents/league office. He's the type of reporter that gets "approved leaks" from teams.

So either:

a) Someone very high up in Ninersworld told him it's Mac Jones because they plan on picking him.

b) Someone very high up in Ninersworld told him it's Mac Jones as a smokescreen.

My head tells me it's Mac Jones. But my gut tells me something seems a little fishy in all this. We'll see come draft day.

My take is 49ers are pretty paranoid about others knowing what we are doing on draft day. I can't believe they have leaked to anyone their plans for #3.

No. I believe my initial response was that the move up was for Lance, and I'll stick with that until proven wrong. The Schefter report is 'bothersome' given he's fairly reliable, and I know when Kyle wants something, he'll usually get it.....

I just can't see all of this for Mac Jones.
