No. These reports aren't coming from the 49ers camp. Shanny's own assistants don't even know who's gonna get picked. Shanny & Lynch have been consistently tight-lipped about everything since they've taken over. Much of this is coming from former employees. If current Shanny assistants don't know who's gonna get picked, how can a former employee know?

You know I am with you 1000% for Fields, but what do the Jets matter? Unless we actually prefer Fields over Wilson as well? But even then I don't think the Jets matter.

It's got to be a smokescreen to lessen the odds that Field's goes number 2. I think Kyle would rather have Fields than Wilson.

Are people actually buying that our assistants don't even have an idea who we are drafting? That entire thing comes from a reporter asking a 49ers assistant who they are drafting and the coach just texted back "i dont know" which definitely should 100% be taken at face value .

Personally I really hope that Shanahan isn't so paranoid that he is spending all of his time smokescreening all of his assistant coaches, rather than having as many people doing as much research as possible to try to find which prospect is the FQB. Doing this research could range from talking to medical experts to talking to the QBs pre-school teachers. I really hope they more worried about finding out all the information possible than interest possibly being leaked when picks 1 and 2 are already completely set in stone (minus care altering injuries or massage related activities).

LOL, I actually fell in love with Fields during the season. When Jimmy went down after Bosa I was like, welp.... on to the f'in draft..... any QB's?! and saw a fellow fan was already showing Fields.

Wilson is intriguing and the upside is obvious, but I also prefer Fields, now that being said.... if Fields went to the Jets (which I 99% doubt). I would have no problem drafting WIlson in comparison to Jones or Lance lol but I love Fields mettle and potential.

well we are talking about drafting a guy with a DUI history. I am not so sure on the research.

That's one reason why the Jets matter (bolded). Both teams will run the same offense, so it makes sense that if SF prefers Fields, they don't want the Jets to know that. The Jets should rely on their own scouting to tell them who to draft, but if NYJ knew that SF preferred Fields (speculation), then it's a possibility that it could cause NYJ to reassess the situation. We don't know what the dynamics are in NYJ. If Mike LaFleur likes ZWilson but Douglas (Jets GM) likes Fields, it's possible Douglas won't allow the rookie coaching staff (Saleh/LaFluer) to make that decision.
