Have the 49ers leaked who they are drafting at #3 (i.e. Mac Jones)

Even rap said no one knows.... everyone is guessing. Even the almighty schefter. Schefter is great when it comes to confirming breaking news, but when it comes to speculation he's like everyone else.

I'm sticking with Fields and I don't think I can be talked out of it anytime soon anymore. I like him more than Wilson at this point and I would be a tad sad if fields went 2 to the jets.

You're plain wrong, picks 1 and 2 ARE NOT "completely" set in stone. If it were there would be no need for smoke-screening. We all feel comfortable in calling the first pick, but stranger things have happened. And you're kidding yourself if you think you know for sure if the Jets are gonna take Wilson. Like I said, we're in lying season.

Now, I do have to really push back on the implication that Shanny isn't doing his research. To think or suggest that Shanny & co. aren't doing they're level best research and scouting jobs on the players on their big boards is patently ridiculous. Shanny is roundly regarded as among the smartest, if not the smartest, coaches in the NFL. I think it's safe to assume that Shanny & Co. have exhausted endless nights researching, scouting, and interviewing individuals surrounding players. I have some critiques of Shanny, but suspecting that he's not a coach that does his homework isn't one of them.

1 and 2 absolutely are set in stone minus something completely unexpected like an injury or something. Jets insiders have even go so far as to say they have already told Zach Wilson they are drafting him.

What I'm saying is even if the 49ers front office is completely leak proof, people could be getting their information from Shanahan doing his research on his preferred prospect (interviewing their high school QB coach, getting their own medical reports, etc.). The only way this process would be completely leak proof would be Shanahan not conducting these types of interviews.

Or they have decided to keep Matt Ryan and hope to get a haul for the 4th pick; some team who loves one of Fields/Lance/Jones

To answer the thread's question, I think they did leak intentionally. It's not like this is anything new.

They are not going to leak any information that they don't want floating out there.

When people talk about leaks, they are probably thinking about some leaky abnormal situation like the Harbuagh/Baalke days where things just got out of control. This is not like that at all.

Teams that leak info that turns out to be wrong, or just a smokescreen, wind up paying for it in negative press coverage. Hence, I do not believe there are ANY leaks at all.

In terms of interviews that is a laughable position to occupy. All teams conduct the sort of interviews you lined out. Those are standard interviews, nothing particularly special about them that would indicate which way a team will draft.
