My take is Fields will be the pick and the smoke is to make sure the jets don't hold a gun to our head and threaten to take him. That said the toughest part I'm having with my theory is Simms. He started all the Mac Jones to the niners stuff. Hard to imagine he'd intentionally lie to his listeners to help Shannahan. He'd lose all credibility in his current career. So unless Kyle promised him a job with the niners I can't see that being the case. So that leaves a couple possibilities. One, he just put his opinion out there and the niners kinda seized the opportunity to lead everyone else to believe he was correct. That would explain the smoke and we'd just have to assume simms and Kyle's evaluation of the qbs are very different. The other possibility is that Jones will be the pick and Kyle is using Simms to prep the fanbase. Everything about that makes sense except for the fact that Jones would then be the pick which is what I'm having problems believing in the first place. I dunno, this is a crazy one.

It's the media narrative to drive demand via clicks. There hasn't been this much excitement for the top 3 picks in a VERY long time. ESPN, NFL.com, and other sports media will milk this for all it's worth...regardless of the selection at #3.

It's the media narrative to drive demand via clicks. There hasn't been this much excitement for the top 3 picks in a VERY long time. ESPN, NFL.com, and other sports media will milk this for all it's worth...regardless of the selection at #3.

For sure, that's all I've said...no one has an inside source on who they will draft.
