huh? The falcons have said they want to move down.

Maybe just maybe all the BS about Jones is just that and NO ONE knows who they want at 3? They asked about Fields setting up a second pro day the day the trade happened.

His agent isn't gonna let him go out to an open pro day to throw for a team that's not truthfully interested in him.
Did Schefter ever actually say that his sources told him that the 49ers were drafting Mac? Or did he just say that is what he believes will happen? There is a big difference. He doesn't lose credibility by saying what he believes, but if he says his sources tell him something, then people would have a right to question his sources.

He said this is what he believes will happen and I have no idea what sources would have the answer to that if SF isn't saying s**t.

why they going to Fields pro day on the 14th now then? If the pick is in and we all know who it is....there's no point.

To play devil's advocate, it's an Ohio State Pro Day, not a Fields Pro Day.

But he's only got eyes for him.

I mean they've done this every draft...I can't remember a draft where I knew for a fact they were picking so and so. s**t even QW vs Bosa was a thing right before the pick was in.

This is Game Theory in practice. I bet Lynch and a lot of GMs are practitioners of it.

I felt pretty confident once the Cardinals took Murray that we were taking Bosa. But there was a little annoying voice in the back of my head that kept saying "they may take QW". And that voice was all because of Phoenix. Cause he's someone who I respect his opinion of football and he seems to always have a good idea who the 49ers are going to take and it's never who I want so I take that s**t personally.

No no even Rapp was pushing QW at pick 2 like a week before the draft.

Ian Rapoport was on NFL network and mentioned how impressive Williams was on his visits, but went a bit further:

I would be surprised if he is there even for, let's say, the Jets at three. It's possible, but it would be a little surprising. I've spoken to a lot of people who believe he is the top player in the draft regardless of position. Just talking to teams, asking them who's number 1 on your board if need was not a factor. Quinnen Williams is No. 1 on several teams I've spoken with just on how dynamic he is. Now, there's differentiation between positions, maybe you might need a pass rusher like Bosa more than a defensive tackle who can be double-teamed, but Quinnen WIlliams is a top-talent and no doubt right now, he is going to be at the very least, a top-five selection

I remember Charlie Campbell saying this

"I spoke with people high up with the 49ers at the Combine, and they were just gushing about Quinnen WIlliams. They felt Bosa was an excellent player, a bit of safe pick, probably more of a position of need heading into free agency given how good DeForest Buckner was for the team last year. But they just had more emotion in the voice, more excitement for Quinnen Williams. They felt his upside was just off the charts when you consider last year was really his first season of playing time in the SEC, to dominate it in the fashion he did, and really moving inside, adding the weight to move inside, they felt the sky is the limit for what this guy could be. They just seem to think that Williams was more special as a player, had more upside, and really they like the make-up of him as well. And they didn't dog Bosa at all. They just were really impressed with Williams, in terms of his character, his football character. And so, I heard that there from people high up with the 49ers. And then, speaking with some people at other teams, I have heard that some of the scouts in their conversations, they have also heard from 49ers people they are really high on Williams and really think the world of him. That's the player that's kind of tugging at the heartstrings.

Wow, the switcheroo with the thread title question. My answer is now no, the 49ers likely haven't leaked that they want Mac Jones. They don't need to, tho. Kyle's type is so damn obvious. I've been saying it from the day I started watching Mac Jones.

Sorry, I wanted to make it more clear what the discussion was about. I didn't want to infringe on the existing Mac Jones thread.
