He's been stating this for a little while. No one knows who it will be it's just guessing

This is where I'm at. Kyle and Lynch put Jed through a test before agreeing to come to SF.

"I made a big deal that this stayed quiet," Lynch said. "First of all, you know what I was doing? Part of the rumors are things fly out of that building. So I wanted to see could I trust this building, you know? And so that was part of my thinking."

So what we are implying here with, "Mac to the 49ers a done deal" is that this front office, that prioritizes being mum about things, allowed the biggest decision that they are about to make to be leaked out of headquarters?
100% this. I bought into the hype initially re MJ. I now firmly believe MJ will not be the pick. I think it's Fields. I can see Lance, though I would be surprised. This all assumes TL and ZW go one-two respectively.

The Niners are super secretive, yet everyone, and their mother, knows immediately who the Niners are going to draft after the trade. Seems a bit fishy, given that Kyle is the kind of guy who wants to get the edge in every possible way. They gain nothing from teams knowing who they want to pick. Just smells like a smoke-screen and won't believe who they are picking until they make their pick.
We knew Solomon was the pick as soon as it was reported that he was classmates with Lynch, months before the draft.

This is not true at all. I remember. It was far from clear.
"What I said last week was 'people said in their guts' that Mac Jones was going to be the #49ers pick.

What I'm saying this week, is that people are hearing that you may want to take your foot off the throttle in terms of Jones to SF." @TonyPauline ⬇️⬇️https://t.co/gNmqz7iUEb

So either:
a) Someone very high up in Ninersworld told him it's Mac Jones because they plan on picking him.
b) Someone very high up in Ninersworld told him it's Mac Jones as a smokescreen.
My head tells me it's Mac Jones. But my gut tells me something seems a little fishy in all this. We'll see come draft day.

I want to give a story about the drafting of Alex Smith. The 49ers, leading up to the draft were talking about drafting Aaron Rodgers. So the rest of the league was talking about trading up to #2 to get Alex Smith. The 49ers noticed the way the rest of the league was thinking, and switched to Alex Smith first to get someone to trade for the pick, and then they opted to actually select him #1 overall.
The funny thing would be if Kyle/Lynch are doing the Mac Jones whisper campaign to keep everyone in the dark on who they plan to pick, and the Jets then convince themselves that they should be picking Mac instead of Zach Wilson.

I remember mocks were all over the place that year. A lot of mocks had us taking ST, Foster, Adams, Trubisky, hell even CMC with the 2nd overall pick.

I definitely think someone leaked something to Schefter. It could be someone in the building that's not happy Shanahan won't pivot off Jones.
