Hunter Long-TE-Boston College

Very well rounded TE prospect that I've seen get a lot of comparisons to Austin Hooper. He doesn't excel at anyone thing but is a high quality route runner and with reliable hands. Willing blocker. Not a top end athlete but he consistently was able to get open and make plays for his quarterback, good awareness in finding soft spots in the zone, enough speed to threaten down the field and good size for the position. You'd be getting a very experienced starter coming out of pro style offense that can do everything this scheme demands. He'd be the #2 TE and would be a capable target if needed to step in for Kittle.

Having been watching quite a bit of him over the past couple of weeks, I'm feeling like this will definitely be someone that is up there on Shanahan's radar. Right off the bat he's a high quality #2 TE prospect with the ability to develop into a solid #1 option at the position.





*Regardless of who the 49ers take at QB, I'd like to see them go out and draft Phil Jurkovec next year as a long term backup. Dude is a magician with his ability to get out of trouble, scramble, find the open receiver and has plenty of arm to make all the throws. Comes off like the ideal NFL backup QB and someone that a team might be able to flip a few years down the road for a higher draft pick. I wouldn't be shocked though if he moves up quite a bit with another good year.
