Final Guesses: Who's it gonna be at #3?

Posted it in another thread, but I'm ALL IN with my FINAL prediction! Deep down, it's hard not to say it's Mac Jones still, but connecting all the dots with all the free agent QBs we scouted, all the trades we "checked in on" ... something tells me we were looking for a stop-gap guy all along. A placeholder. Jimmy doesn't want to be that guy, so out of respect, we tell him we can trade him if he'd rather have a fresh start. My final guess is this:

- 49ers draft Lance
- 49ers trade Jimmy Garoppollo
- 49ers use that or other picks to trade for another QB to bring in as the place-holder (Bridgewater or Minshew being key targets -- remember the "due diligence" we did on Teddy already?)

My heart says Lance. Other than Wilson I'd be happy with Fields. I'd be skeptical about Lance or Mac. I wouldn't be upset with Lance, he's fast, strong big arm and seems like he has a good character.

I'm hoping for Fields.

If we don't keep JG then Fields will win us more games this season.

He's battle tested and adds a running dimension that D Coordinators will be challenged to plan for.

I'm still on Fields, I think Kyle loves the fact that everyone thinks it's Mac Jones.

The biggest thing Kyle values is connections to people he trusts. Fields has them in abundance.

I know I said Mac Jones in the other thread, but I'll say this. I believe the reports that the team is deciding between Mac Jones and Trey Lance. I agree with OTC, that the 49ers will go with Lance, move #10 to clear some cap space and go with another stopgap until Lance is ready.

I think Justin Fields if he's drafted is just as much of a day 1 starter as Jones. He's actually started more games than Jones has.

Basically if the 49ers trying to trade Garop has legs, Kyle and John have little confidence in Jimmy staying healthy long enough to be a bridge for the 3rd pick. Tough situation all around.

I don't understand why anyone would believe any of these reports.

Kyle when asked if he knew who they were drafting "I don't want to say that, I don't think it helps us to have that information out there"

A guy who doesn't even want to admit they have made up their mind is going to leak reports?

It sure does look like they want Mac Jones. One thing will be interesting for sure. Either all the talking heads got it right and their sources were correct or they were ALL way off with bogus intel.
