That is definitely a concern, he's super light, around 180 or something like that while standing 6'1. He could stand to gain 10-15 pounds.
Jayden is listed 6'3
He's currently at 190 per Herm Edwards (as of Spring 2021 practice). With his frame, 200 is probably the max. Should be noted he is a bit younger and would be a 21-year old at the start of the 22-23 football season (December birthdate). Most December born athletes would have started school later as a young kid.
He was the #3 ranked QB in the 2019 highschool class, about the same highschool scouting grade as Tua Tagoviola. So it's not like Daniels is coming out of nowhere, he was very highly regarded highschool QB despite most December birth dates would have been in the next year.
Strengths:
-Protects the ball, rarely ever throws a pick (3 int in 422 pass attempts, which goes back to his highschool days (4 int in 406 attempts senior year).
-excellent deep ball touch and ball placement
-Has the athleticism to be a good scrambling QB in the NFL, but is still a pocket-passer (but he will not be a running threat in NFL, just a guy that scrambles for a 1st)
-Very calm demeanor, does not get rattled. Has lead game winning drives very early in his career
-Able to throw on the run
-Has a high release point in this throwing motion
-Throws anticipatory throws
-Developing in an NFL-like offense
-quick agile feet, good throwing form and motion
-Has the arm strength to make all NFL throws
Weaknesses:
-Is a tempo passer with his accuracy, there are streaks where his accuracy suffers
-Developed happy feet in 2020 and left the pocket prematurely at times
-Struggled to get comfortable in new offense in 2020
-Tends to cut his the field in half rather than scan full field
He had a new OC in 2020 and a lot of freshman WRs that dropped balls/ran bad routes. He tends to play 3Q of football as a game manager before he gets the green light to take more chances in the 4th. Herm Edwards has said the "training wheels" are coming off and he will be given the green light to take more chances this year, but ASU will likely be a run-first offense with how 2020 went. HE has also said he views ASU's D as the strength, so I still think JD will play a lot of game-management protect the ball football.
