2022 General Prospect Discussion and Watch List

from NFL.com:

Round 2: No. 61 overall -- Tariq Woolen, CB, Texas-San Antonio
Round 3: No. 93 overall -- Josh Paschal, Edge, Kentucky

The Niners dealt their first-round pick this year to Miami before the 2021 NFL Draft so they could move up to the No. 3 overall slot and select quarterback Trey Lance. Woolen brings size and athleticism to a thin secondary, a similar pick to when the team selected Ahkello Witherspoon early in Round 3 five years ago. Paschal is a low-center-of-gravity pass rusher; he uses that leverage and a relentless style to set the edge against the run and attack quarterbacks who fail to unload the ball quickly.

Similar to Witherspoon aka the human torch.. we can only hope

I like him alot, like really think he could be that mid round steal the niners are famous for, his pros are SPEED, aggressive mentality to play the ball (converted WR), and will come up and make a tackle. The flip side, he can get caught being too aggressive and bust the coverage or miss a tackle, since he's a convert from offense he is raw and could be a much better pro with some time and coaching. It was when the Pitre talk started that I watched Baylor and Woods pops on film, especially as the deep safety.

When I read his profile(s) last night that's exactly who it sounded like.

Yeah basically, that franchise guy on YT did a safety breakdown and that's who he compared him to i believe. He would be a great developmental guy who could work his way up the depth chart in year 2 or 3 and be that safety that can play the ball which we have missed sorely.
In FA , F.O signed CBs and Ss, and now have Zoom interviewed or gone to pro days for another 4 or 5 DBs. It seems like the "slight deficiency" we had in DBbackfield last yr was noticed by someone other than just us peons. More power to 'em which is making those picks at #61 and #93 look more like OL & DE…Parham and Malone to name two (assuming still there).

it is also making the 2 firsts we traded for plus our own first for Trey, looking smarter and smarter. One reason I heard last yr for taking Trey was because of the dearth of QBs this yr. How would you like to be a team with no QB or a poor choice for QB, and have a top 3 pick this yr? Yeah, me neither.

We sometimes get chippy with our F.O, but the way this draft is lining out, i am liking our picks last yr better and better.

Thanks. The guys that seem to be the best fit for the niners at S where they are picking, to me, are Brisker and Pitre. Daxton hill seems amazing, but he will probably be long gone.

I'm sorry I have no idea why Woolen is looked at as a 2nd rd pick outside of his being a uber athlete. Paschal in the 3rd would be money.

Big Brisker fan…but I've watch Bryan Cook and I'm a fan (like Cross as well).

I don't think Brisker makes it to us and Cook/Cross might be good values in the 3rd.

Yes thanks for reminding me on cook. Read up on him last night too. I love getting Lindys draft guide each year along with all the other sites I read, but their round evaluations do not seem aligned with any other other site. …like really off lol
The best way to avoid a bust with pick 61 is to draft an edge rusher. With Kocurek and Ryan's coaching to go with Bosa being on the other side of him, Instant success aslong as he has alot of physical ability.
Some draft talk

I wouldn't hate drafting this kid

Greg Cossell was talking about him and he believes he's more than just a burner. Said he was similar to Chris Olave

If they can somehow come up with a combo of Pitre/Williams/Parham with their 1sr 3 picks and a burner WR with their 4th I'd be pleased

Edit: s**t forgot Williams had a felony sexual assault charge.
