Marcus Jones CB Houston

Marcus Jones is one of the most electric and versatile prospects out there. The Niners could use his skills at both CB (slot or boundary) and as a kick returner. The 2021 Consensus All-American has been dominant for both Houston and Troy in his college career. Would love to see this kid in Red and Gold.

i think he is an ok CB

but he is the best returner by far. Problem we will need to spend a round 2 pick on him

That is the rub, isn't it? Niners are going to be picking in the mid 50's unless they make some serious moves over the offseason. Top boundary CB's may be scarce at that point so whomever they take will be considered a reach. Jones may fall into the early third just because he isn't the best or biggest CB prospect. Hope the rest of the NFL overlooks Jones so Niners take him there.

5'8 will make him fall. It's how those things go.

I don't think he'll survive on the boundary, but he is definitely a viable prospect to kick inside. He may be there in the third / fourth
Great prospect and helps us at both nickel and KR/PR, worthy of a 3rd for sure
This kid would've been a first rounder if he was 3-4 inches taller and 10-15 lbs heavier. The talent is definitely not a question and he plays a lot bigger than his size. He's probably the best pure slot CB in this draft. His versatility also puts him on top of the board for JL and KS. Niners need a play maker at slot CB, I think this kid can come in and start at SCB from day one. Niners filled most needs in FA except SCB and RG. Wouldn't be mad at all if the Niners pick him within the first two picks, although I don't think he would last to our second pick might have to trade up.

Yeah I keep coming away with this kid late day 2. I would say Gordon is a better slot guy for my money (gonna cost more too). My only issue with Jones is getting off blocks. Feel like I see him having issues with that, which is understandable with his size. He's a dog though and plays bigger than he is.

I also like Coby Bryant/Cam Taylor-Britt/Damari Mathis in the slot.

Gordon was my initial draft crush and I was hoping that his 4.52 40 time at the combine was going to drag his stock down a little. As far as I can tell, that's not happening. Gordon could go late first to Cincinnati and in the top 50 at the worst. Jones however seems like he's slotted for the third round because of his size, not his game tape. I would take him or Taylor-Britt in a heartbeat in the late third.

I'm 100% sure this is our first pick if we don't trade Deebo. Anyone want take a bet? We need a matchup corner to mirror Cupp. This is the guy.

I honestly feel like he is 100% a 9er. He and Samori Toure we can pencil in as 9ers.
Unless someone major unexpected falls at safety / edge / wr I have a sneaking feeling that Marcus Jones, Dylan Parham, or Cam Jurgens will be our pick in rd 2. Will be biggest positions of need and appropriate value (though 2 of those 3 may also slip to our 3rd pick too).

Too many pff mocks....
We need more speed in the backfield and this kid has it. I try to draft him in all my mocks.
Size doesn't matter
