Kyle literally said they knew Tomlinson would get paid so they drafted Banks. I could totally see the same approach with T and C next. It would be strange to see but they're always thinking a year out with the draft. That's why they traded up for Trey too.

then I guess they have to hit on the RT prospect. Early there are bunch I like. Raimann's scouting report is hilarious. It reads like a "49ers are stupid if they don't draft him" report.

"Scheme tendencies: Wide zone heavy rushing attack (Shanahan style system)"

https://thedraftnetwork.com/player/bernhard-raimann/DOTIweItOc

Petit-Frere or another guy that seems to fit their style and can play both LT and RT

It's starting to have that feel of T at 61. Still depends on BPA but they typically fall in love with a guy and do whatever they can to draft him, even if a bit overdrafted. T could be just that move as a trade up.

Yeah At this point I'm all for BPA at a position of need.

For sure. IOL, T, ER, SCB/S, etc.

We need starters at 3 spots.
4 spots if Mack retires.

And there's not a ton of starting spots open too so it wouldn't be a bad idea to turn 9 picks into 4-5 higher quality players.

Well looking at what we need, I think we might need 8 picks atleast.

2 OL(One being a future center who can right now play guard for a year, And the other being RT because I don't think MM will be ready)

An Edge rusher(Hopefully a speed guy in the Dee Ford mold)

SS who can replace Tarrt.

A Nickel Corner.

WR, Would like to draft two of them. One guy with size, good route runner, and good hands. And then a deep threat speedster.

And atleast one Running Back. Someone with alot of speed to compliment Mitchell and Sermon.

I also wouldn't mind drafting a TE to take some of the workload off of Kittle. Because right now that's not Dwelley or Woerner.

I think it's hard to find replaces for both RT and C with where we're drafting...at what point is the player just a depth guy vs a future starter? Same with EDGE.

I don't really see the need to draft "at least" one RB. They have all 4 guys coming back...that's a backend of the draft UDFA move at most this yr.

I think they need two WRs to fill out the depth. I would like another TE I just kinda hate this draft class at TE overall.

I'm fine leaving this draft with like 6 or so players, nothing I hate more than drafting and cutting guys.

Agree NY, but i would like to see us package our 7 or however many picks we have into moving up until we just have 3 picks …OG, C, Edge. Like you, i hate to have picks and just end up cutting them.

Downside of this is, then a guy like Mitchell shows up. So, i understand getting multiple picks, looking for that DJJones, Mitchell, 5th rd Kittle and so on. Still it is just hard to blow picks on guys who don't come close to making it.
I can see

  • 2nd Round; No. 61 Overall and 4th Round; No. 134 Overall = traded to move up for a pass rusher
  • 3rd Round; No. 93 Overall = guard
  • 3rd Round; No. 105 Overall *Special Compensatory = CB
  • 5th Round; No. 172 Overall = C or T
  • 6th Round; No. 187 Overall (from Den) = DT
  • 6tfh Round; No. 220 Overall *Compensatory = WR
  • 6th Round; No. 221 Overall *Compensatory = RB
  • 7th Round; No. 262 Overall *Compensatory = TE

Yeah not sure 3 picks in total is the right we to go either. I'd like to work it so we have a ton of picks between that 70-120 spot. A ton of talent lying around in those spots

Could happen wouldn't hate it at all…if we're looking at the draft value chart giving up a 4th with out 2nd moves SF up to pick 57 or 56 gotta remember that's one of the last picks in the 4th.

honestly all depends on how the board falls but I wouldn't mind moving down a couple spots to snag another 4th or 5th (maybe swap picks). I'd love to have a bunch of picks in the 3rd/4th.

Both seem like sound strategies.
another solid G/C prospect that might be the dude is Luke Fortner out of Kentucky.

He's played all 3 interior positions. He played in 55 career games at Kentucky, including 36 consecutive starts the last three seasons, and saw 600+ snaps at each interior alignment.

He's smart as s**t...Has a Bachelor's in mechanical engineering, Master's in aerospace engineering, and will be getting a Master's in business administration in May of 2022. He's a constant in volunteering over his time at UK. I wouldn't be shocked if he has a gold helmet.

As far as play, he's got a high floor and more of a lower ceiling then some guys like Jurgens. He's plenty athletic just not like some other prospects. Good balance and hand placement. He can move to the second level just fine. He's not amazing at pulling. He's an ideal fit for zone blocking schemes IMO. He needs to get stronger and has a hard time vs bigger NT (had some moments vs Georgia) . He doesn't have the elite measurables and I think he will be 23 or 24 when drafted, which I'm fine with at center.

I'm seeing him as a late day 2 early day 3 guy and I think he could challenge Brunskill at RG from day 1 and learn from Mack. Good value IMO.

Agreed. He might sneak into the 3rd but I am hoping he's available in the 4th.
