Nick Cross - Safety - Maryland

He looks like a guy that plays SS for us. I like that he had so many snaps as the high safety too!. Him and Ward can play both spots...Versatile.

Is he a guy you take at 61?

Would def consider it. Brisker is the guy I would love at 61 but Cross would Def be worth considering as well
He looks more like a FS. Nice closeout speed and actually goes over the top and helps out. I feel like the Niners need more of a slot/SS type, but I like Cross too. Hell, Saleh was toying with an idea of Ward being in the slot/SS and Tartt at FS and then they wanted Moore for that role.

A guy like Cross usually will go higher than his expected draft slot I think, just because how a coverage safety is coveted.
got his pro-day today....seems like a great fit for SF and is only 20.

I think he will be there in the 3rd rd.

Depends on how badly the Niners want a safety. He should be there up to pick #105, but maybe not a pick #134. This draft is going to be all about priorities. This front office has a history of building back to front on both sides of the ball. Will Lynch prioritize OL over the secondary in this draft? If he decides to finally address the secondary first, the Niners should have some really good prospects to choose from.
I like this kid. Would love him in the 3rd....
I'm on team Cross.
Thanks for starting this thread! This guy is really intriguing. Seems to check so many boxes for OUR scheme. With versatility being so important to the Niners he has got to be on their radar. I mean we do have a guy in the FO that knows a little about playing Safety.

Honestly he reminds me a bit of Jimmie Ward. Anyone else? To my eyes, after watching some of these highlights, I have him just a touch below Brisker and ahead of both Cine and Pitre for OUR D. I see the earlier speculation he may go much higher than where he is ranked. First, why is he ranked where he is (3rd 4th from what I see by the draft dudes), and second, do you really think he is going to fly up draft boards - like ahead of Brisker? I can tell you if S is what they view as their top priority I sure ain't gonna be mad if they take this guy at 61. He may be my defensive draft crush. Damn I'm geeked over this dude.

Fan of this kid. Just like I'm a fan of Pitre, Taylor-Britt, Mckinley lll... this is a nice class.
How would you guys stack the Safety class relative to our need if we decide to get one with our 2nd/3rd round pick?

I like Cross, not at 61 though.
He seems to have the speed and range to play single high, and would allow us to move Ward into the slot with Hua playing on the other safety spot. The more mocks I do, the more I end up with this guy if none of the top pass rushers are available at 61.
The more I watch the more I'm out on Cross
