Mack has been a top end center and improved pass-pro across the board. Pretty sure Tomlinson is a top end paid guard now. For all the crying about McG he was actually pretty good in pass-pro before the injury.

people clearly don't look around the league and see the trash people are throwing out there on their OL.

I have no idea what Banks and Moore will be but let's see what happens before we complain about it? I know that's a whole hell of a lot easier to do but let's wait and see.

He definitely struck me more as a G. Agreed. Solid player.

Also seemed to struggle with speed on the outside at the Senior Bowl so he's definitely better suited inside. Let him add another 10-15 pounds and focus on trying to win one of the spots at guard.

Always for adding competition inside. Solid clay to mold.

Burford's tape looks like our kind of blocker

And by tape you mean the 5 second highlight video you just saw lol

You know there is this think called the internet? Can look up info pretty quick on it. Surprised you havent heard of it!

Okay, enlighten me on all the tape study you've done on the kid on this thing called the internet. Looking up info pretty quick and tape looking like our kind of blocker is different things but what do I know since I don't know what the internet is

He blocks angry, is very agile can move the point of contact. Shifts well in motion. Above avg run blocker below avg pass blocker. If that isnt our type of Oline dont know what is

Facts. LOL

It would appear this FO doesn't value pass protection..... at all. It's a good thing Trent Williams just happens to be elite at pass pro too.

yes...the shanahan system prefers run blocking

literally the entire offense is based on zone run looks

if the OL is doing well in the run game the pass blocking comes naturally bc the defense is too distracted by the run

when we are behind and need to pass we look like crap bc the OL isnt built for pure drop back sets

Yes! Lots of people don't see that we are a run first team always have been. Thats why nothing in this draft surprises me. 49ers rely on Good blocking TE, FB and RB to shore up the weak pass blocking OT

Anyone take Dohnovan West yet?

Not a fan. I'd really be surprised if he turns out to be anything more than a career backup/spot starter.

He reminds me a lot of Ben Garland, someone with great movement skills but will get rocked by bigger linemen. The more I've seen of him, the less I've liked.
Wanted a center to groom. I'm all for Dohnovan West, just seems like they want a vet there not a young guy.

The scary thing is how reminesent the Mack situation is to Staley, but they did make the trade in the 5th...so maybe they have something up their sleeve, Do they trade Jimmy and sign Tretter or make a trade for a vet Center, I get that Kyle doesnt value OG but he sure as hell has always prioritized Center.

The Senior Bowl isn't the only thing to look at.

Yeah but it is predictive of success for smaller school players. When a small school guy comes in and holds their own, it shows that they can be successful in the NFL, not that its guaranteed, but it makes success more likely. When a small school guy comes in and gets rocked, its...not good.

At least Burford proved that he's not a tackle at the NFL level. He was better at guard there.
Chiefs just keep killing it. Now they have Kinnard.

Ding ding ding!
They've rebuilt their entire offensive line in two years, without using a single high draft pick.

i think we will draft one high best year

Luke Matthews and the guy from Michigan are really solid

Skule, McKivitz, Moore and now Burford.

They're just looking for versatile OL here more than projected future starters.

They look for scheme fit lineman and sounds like moore just might be a future starter.

Hopefully but at G, any of these guys could be a starter there. As to higher level balanced play that'll help us get over the hump? Ehhh.
