2023 Draft Prospect Watch List and Discussion

How about that TCU RB?

Good player, but not a game changer, and I only want an RB that has a game changing trait, or that presents as significant value
Shrine measurements

Wide receiver AT Perry, 6033. Still very tall, but not the 6'5" as advertised. Slight build at 195 lbs

OL Carter Warren with NFL size: 6053, 323

Nickel corner Tre'vius Hodges-Tomlinson; yikes. 5075, 176

Good size for SJSU pass rusher Villami Fehoko. 6035, 267. Fun player.

Fullback convert Derek Parish a beefy 241 lbs at 6007

Tightend Travis Vokolek a whopping 6060 259. I haven't watched him, but I've heard good things. Might be the H/W/S athletic freak sleeper TE of the draft according to some who's opinions I value.

Mark Evans II, probably will get work at center. 6022, 293

Center Ricky Stromberg a respectable 315 at 6031

TWSN Sleeper Candidates

DT: Brandon Dorlus, Oregon
Dorlus rotated to a 3-4 defensive end in 2022 and he continued to wreak havoc on the PAC 12. Dorlus can rotate between defensive tackle and defensive end which will be massive for his draft stock. Dorlus has recorded a career 78 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, seven sacks and four breakups in only 37 games over 957 pass rush snaps. He's also added 109 pressures including back to back seasons of 40+ and a career 49 stops in the run game. Dorlus is versatile, strong, and has a lethal first step. He's sitting as a fifth round prospect and in a strong defensive tackle class, he'll move up quickly which says something else. The biggest enticement for NFL teams is going to be his versatility as Dorlus has 540 snaps at defensive end, 395 at the 3-Tech and 620 as a traditional nose tackle. Keep an eye on Dorlus at the Senior Bowl and Combine.

LB: Dorian Williams, Tulane
Williams is very similar to Chiefs LB Nick Bolton as a prospect and overall player. Williams has elite athleticism and sideline to sideline range. He's great in soft zone drops and does a fantastic job identifying running lanes and blowing up a play. He's well built on a 6-2, 230 pound frame while also moving super well and playing physical. Tulane understood how to utilize him and really showed off his best skills in 2022 which saw him record 115 tackles, nine tackles for loss, five sacks, two interceptions, 12 breakups and two forced fumbles. He also added 22 pressures and eight quarterback hits on only 90 blitz attempts. In coverage, Williams was one of the best in the nation, allowing just 18 receptions for 156 yards, a 64.1 QBR and zero touchdowns. Williams will participate in the Senior Bowl where his stock will only rise even more.
Hey guys...was hoping to avoid this section for another couple of weeks

Hopefully we find some more late round gems this year. Gonna be a tough offseason with a lot of key free agents likely moving on. Have to see some 2nd year jumps from guys in this year's class.

I always appreciate you putting a list like this up. Been trying to watch some of the DBs for the upcoming draft and this narrows it down a bunch. Can I ask why Mazi Smith DT and Brenton Cox DE weren't included?

Tykee Smith will fill your boy Talanoa Hufangas spot at Nickel.

I think corner is, by far, the best position group in this class. Kinda sucks that we lack high end draft capital because, if we're able to resign Emmanuel Moseley, I think there are bigger needs to use our draft capital on.

I don't have any opinions on Cox, but I don't like Mazi. He was on my list earlier in the season, but I just don't see it with him. He is big, strong and athletic, but coming from Michigan were I expect him to have received good coaching, there is no reason he should be so ineffective vs the pass. You won't even need to pay too close attention to him when watching to see that he is consistently late, if not last off the ball, completely negating whatever athletic advantages he has over the lineman lined up across from him. That is his biggest problem, but add in short arms, an absence of a pass rush plan, and lacking lateral agility, and he is mostly just a space eater vs the run where his size and upper body strength can shine when catching the OL. At times he can use his vertical explosion and strength to push the pocket with power, but it's too few and far between and his lack of length hurts him when it's time to disengage from his blocker and finish the play.

Cody Mauch is a natural center.

Appreciate the info on Mazi. I'll be honest run stopping has shot up my wants this draft. But I'm sure there's DTs who can effectively stop the run and also give us something in the pass rush. As far as the DBs I've looked at I see 3 that from initial big boards could be there at the end of the 3rd round that I think are real players. Deonte Banks could contribute early, DJ Turner as a project long term guy and Tykee Smith as a Nickel who could push to start early.

Check out Jerrod Clark, who might be available 1 or 2 rounds later than Mazi, based on early media projections
How did my guy Brandon Dorlus do ?

Is he taking snaps at C now? Good. The speculation due to his 32+ inch arms was he would have to kick inside. I know he is smart and a gamer
Siaki Ika out of Baylor

Would love to have this kid but I'm not sure where he's going to go, I've seen him from late 1st- 3rd. I'd trade up for him if he was there late 2nd.
