Chandler Zavala is a OG prospect in the 2023 draft class. He scored an unofficial 9.95 RAS out of a possible 10.00 after his pro day. This ranked 8 out of 1382 OG from 1987 to 2023. https://t.co/zueW27yJTr #RAS pic.twitter.com/d9jvhIu60z

Combine snub, so media is late to him. 2nd rounder imo
Dude is a stud. Man this draft is chalk full of good IOL.
Have we been connected to him at all?
I don't think so…here's a great spreadsheet of who we've spoken to at any point. Steph has been killing it with that.
For some time now, I've been preparing a #49ers Draft sheet to track who the 49ers have met with throughout the process. Will also track their Pro Day attendance once that gets rolling.

Holy crap! This needs to be pinned to our home article. This changes everything. Thanks so much.

I think he goes higher than expected, but he'd be an EXCELLENT fit on day three

Yeah, with the reports of Aiyuk, big contracts about to hit and the FO's propensity to think a year-two out, i can see why WR is being seriously considered. Plus, so many have come in the 2nd and 3rd rounds lately.
This ain't the draft to invest much in WR imo. Down for finding a role player with upside late, but I'm not counting on much.
If Jonathan Mingo is there with one of our 3rds I'm taking him. 6'2 220 lbs, ran 4.46, reminds me of Deebo/Aquan Boldin. He can line up at any position, even lined up at inline TE, he's the best blocking WR in the class as well. I think Kyle would love him. Position flexibility, athletic freak (9.97 RAS), good run blocker. If he pans out we can let Deebo walk or trade him and get something back before his contract ends. I think the coaching staff feels like Danny Gray is in the Sermon, ambry thomas, TDP, Tarvarous Moore, 3rd round pick let down category. But I hear what your saying, other than a select handful of WR's I wouldn't go out of my way in drafting one but I think there's a handful in that mid teir 3rd-5th round that could be really good.

I guess it depends on who else is there.

I think he would be great as another target in Kyles offense. Seems like he would get to the open areas especially over the middle, would probably be running free in this offense. Still like Gray but he is a different matchup.

A lot of the WRs they've met with are more than likely UDFAs or late day 3 guys.

True but 8 of them are top 150 picks. That tells you they are pretty serious about adding one high. It doesn't mean they will but either way, they seem to be looking hard at that position...for a reason.

We have seen UDFAs (Matt Breida), late picks (Mitchell), and unknowns (Mostert) come in and produce. So when Trey Sermon didn't do much, that was a bad sign. Ditto for TDP.

I also can't see them taking a receiver that early. That player isn't cracking the top 3 (Deebo, Aiyuk, Jennings). That player also has Ray Ray and Gray ahead of them and we don't throw the ball enough to draft a receiver that early when we've got 4 guys that are good in their role. If we keep all three first rounders, it's O-line, DE, safety, and maybe a corner.

I'd just call it due diligence. A player could fall to the 5th and they need to be ready. I'd imagine they need to be able to have a guy come in and produce by 2024. Jennings is likely gone after 2024 and they need insurance for their starters. Going to really watch Danny Gray this year. In year 2, we are going to see if he goes the route of Jauan Jennings, Deebo, Kendrick Bourne, and Aiyuk or does he go down the road of Dante Pettis.

What's interesting is that they are looking at 10 (the most of any position group so far) players who are projected to go 62 to 184. And then after that its all UDFA level. So they get their guy high and if not, they'll wait until after the draft or the very end.
