Stupid question, but what is top 30 visit?

Google says "The term "Top 30" gives the impression that a player is among a team's preferred prospects. A Top 30 visit can be used on any level of prospect and also can be used as a smokescreen to make another team think you have interest in a player. It also applies to a maximum of 30 players, so a team can use fewer visits."

I can't remember if it was last year or two years ago, but Lynch talked about how sometimes they don't invite someone for a visit that they really want in an effort to not show his hand.

like mentioned above, a smoke screen. I think the top 30 visits give a great idea of the positions they're targeting though. Looks like we are very interested in drafting a CB or two.

This is correct. Mike McGlinchey was an example IIRC. But they typically still meet with them in another fashion. We don't always find out until later. Sometimes they'll report out they are watching Quenton Nelson but are really watching Mike McGlinchey because they know they have a trade on the table with NE.

Ugh. Thats so before COVID 49ers drafting lol. We'd have to accept this regime has flaws it will never overcome if they did that.

I'm telling yeah. They will see it as a position of "need" and that they have the best chance to be a starter this yr.

hope not, but they always seem to do something dumb like that
Thoughts on OT Richard Gouraige out of Florida? I haven't heard many people talk about him. Far from an elite athlete, but he's got the length and size you want at OT. Over 30 starts in the SEC.

Got him listed as my backup at the OG/OT position in that ideal/backup thread. Possible Brunskill replacement

I admittedly don't even try to "study" OL . Read scouting reports and such.

Played both guard and tackle. Last year at left tackle 12 hurries, 1 hit and 1 sack.

Not in love with his run blocking, which worries me about the guard conversion. Even in those highlights in pass blocking, hes all upper body. Too upright, not sinking the hips and anchoring. He more or less just got in the way of Will McDonald and he tried to dip around him. All reach and push. Wins the battle but not the war.

Gouraige was injured at the combine and skipped events, but did the full slate at his pro day and the results are not good. Has some physical traits with arm length, wingspan, height, hands, but the athletic testing was poor. Hoping for a 30 inch vert from an offensive lineman and Gouraige was 22.5 And the weak bench on top of it, I'm out on him.

GOURAIGE

I'm with you 100% I'll be shocked if it doesn't happen.
Based off of visits, it's safe to say we will definitely be drafting an OT, CB, and TE - possibly multiple at one or two of those positions

GOURAIGE

I don't much about him. Sounds like a later day 3 OT with experience.

I think its just general dumb picks now. Trey Sermon and TDP in the last 2 drafts.
I was just trying to do a top 10 by position last night and CB, Safety, WR, TE, DL/Edge all are so deep in my opinion. Really a ton of guys I like that should be available mid-late rounds. I'm pumped, can't wait for the draft. It's my 2nd favorite sporting event of the year behind the Super Bowl/Niners playoff games

I'm in the minority, but I'm trying to get on board with this EDGE class and I just can't see it. Who in, or what do you like overall about this draft class?
