Thats a helluva claim.

He basically took USC from a 4-8 team to a 10-1 team. Then there's his film. His pocket presence, elusiveness and passing skills are all on par or already better than Mahomes.

More than that, if you watch him play, you wouldn't guess the guy is only 20 years old. He carries himself like a grizzled veteran and has unbelievable poise and confidence in the pocket.

Williams is a great prospect, but is not even a guarantee to be the first QB drafted in what is shaping up to be a great QB class...the bold is just hyperbolic Insanity

I believe Williams is only a Soph in eligibility this year so he won't be in this coming draft. 2024 will be his year and he'll probably go #1 overall. By 2024 the Niners will have a chance to see Trey for a full season. (hopefully) I doubt the 49ers would be able to move up and draft Williams in 2024 unless they gave away about 5 draft picks. Something like 3 firsts and 2 seconds. I don't see that happening again. Let's hope Seattle doesn't end up with him.

Correct, not elible til 2024. On track to being a top 3 pick. Will be a battle with Drake Maye for first over all, and Q. Ewers has a chance to get there as well.

As for this year's draft, what a day for Olusegun Oluwatimi. Hopefully someone on the Niners radar. Wasn't able to watch the entire game yet, but looked stout in PP and excellent getting to the second level in run blocking, which is made more impressive vs a decently talented OsU DLine. Helped to spring a few runs on a good rushing day on which Michigan didn't even have their star RB available outside of the first drive or two

Good to see Fehoko from SJSU get an east-west shrine invite. Definitely fits the mold of what we look for in a dlineman.

As an aside, who are y'alls favorite prospects that we zero chance at being in range to acquire in the upcoming draft? For me, it's:

Drew Sanders, LB Arkansas
Christian Gonzales, CB Oregon
Rashee Rice, WR SMU
Darnell Washington, TE Georgia
Cody Mauch, OL NDSU

Who doesn't haha. Who are some other 2-gapping DLinemen who might be available in the late rounds a la DJ Jones?

The way current draft is going. Looks like he'll go to the seahawks

Still dont understand the kelee ringo hype. As an aside, don't understand the TCU hype either
Don't want to miss the warrior game, but tryna catch what I can of Michigan v Purdue to watch Mazi Smith (NT) and DJ Turner (CB) for Michigan. Both definitely look the part from a physical build standpoint.

Mazi is a massive human being, and he can definitely push the pocket. That said, he's consistently last off the ball at the snap, and I'm underwhelmed by his work against the run. Constantly washed out by double teams, doesn't have the lateral agility or motor to chase down outside runs, never really see him hustle to the ball to gang tackle, and struggles to shed his blocker at times in 1v1 opportunities. At this point, looks like a limited pocket pusher, tho his size, raw strength and linear speed still offer a high upside.

DJ Turner is one of my favorite cost-effective corners in the class. Long arms, and in limited viewing of this game, constantly eager to stick his nose in and tackle in run defense. Good press and coverage ability. Got his hand on a ball in the 2nd. Michigan fans seem to complain about his lack of interceptions, but I guess it makes sense that they'd be most critical. In my viewings, he seems to have good ball skills, constantly generating PBUs, but it makes sense for fans to be less happy about a pass hitting the corner's hands and more bummed about said ball not being caught.
Need to keep an eye on the Center position this year:

51. John Michael Schmitz
Minnesota

6'4" 320

64. Luke Wypler
Ohio State

6'3" 300
80. Sedrick Van Pran
Georgia

6'3" 310

122. Olusegun Oluwatimi
Michigan

6'3" 310

168. Ricky Stromberg
Arkansas

6'3" 310

175. Jacob Gall
Baylor

6'2" 305

189. Joe Tippmann
Wisconsin

6'5" 320

199. Andrew Raym
Oklahoma

6'3" 315

224. Willie Lampkin
Coastal Carolina

6'1" 285

232. Brett Neilon
USC

6'2" 295

That is one position that the Niners need to fill next year to upgrade the line. Brendel has been fine, but not great.

I am checking out centers too, should be there with the first few picks. Tippmann is interesting, kind of tall
A lot of interesting centers this class, but give me Van Pran or Oluwatimi

Van Pran would be my first choice but he may be gone by our first pick. Oluwatimi should be available in the fifth if we're lucky. Tippman and Raym would be good day three options, too.
