Sydney Brown, S - Illinois

This is a kid I fell in love with at the senior bowl.

Talked about him on my pod. Was real impressive in 1v1 man-cov drills, sound assignment player in 7 v7 and 11v11's. Reminds me of Hufanga with the way he moves.

He looks like Hufanga, blitzing, playing the screen from those post. How is he playing the deep ball that's what will separate him from Hufanga??
I was gonna talk about this kid and likeness like Huf lol.
Not sure he makes it out of the 2nd though

Thats when you package a bunch of picks to move up
Impressive tape!

But I dont think SF needs another "tone setter" with limited range in the secondary. They need a true center-fielding ballhawk.

if you read his scouting report, most of his concerns are related to his size and his tackling ability which would mean he's not like Huf. Kid has done it all as a safety and they talk about his instincts and his ball skills. Looks like he would make a decent free safety prospect for us.

10 INTs and 16 PDs isn't a ballhawk?

Didn't read the stats, better than expected!
Was listenting to draft dudes podcast (The Draft Network) and they were really high on this kid. One of them said he was a day 3 guy but now a day 2 guy after his performance at the senior bowl. Has good ability to play the slot or single high S.

Kinda like Jimmie Ward's skillset.
He's just as good as Kirby Joseph, who also came from Illinois last year and had a great rookie season. Would love this kid

We did that already. To grab a QB. A QB that will likely stand on the sidelines. That is a problem.

I sure wish the 49ers had a first round draft pick in 2023. I wish we had that pick last year too. That is the problem with packaging picks to move up.

It's still early, of course. That player who cost three 1st round picks may eventually turn out to be a huge NFL star. He just hasn't. Yet.
The guy Sydney reminds me of is Mike Brown who used to play for the Bears, and not just because they share a last name. Their play style just seems so similar to me. I'm sure of you guys will remember Mike. What do you think?
