Right lol? I feel like these guys work so hard on their 40 times leading up to the draft, that it's hard to really grasp if that's who they are on the field or what?

I dont get why he is considered a 1st rounder when he wasn't even a starter. I get he is athletic and tests really well but whats the deal with him not starting?
Mentioned it in another thread, but Adetomiwa Adebawore deserves soooooo much more noise for his combine performance. He exceed last year's number one overall draft pick Travon Walker, who was a late rise to #1 based solely off perceived combine-performance athleticism related hypothetical upside, by every metric. Given he is likely to reduce inside for the majority of his pass rush reps, he deserves to be recognized for the most impressive defensive tackle, if not across all positions, combine performance of all time.

Speaking of testing, what a disappointing year for 3C. Many opted not to perform, with a lot of the "bendier" guys waiting for their prodays, but to have no big names record a sub 7 second, let alone 6.89 second, 3C is wildly disappointing. Doubling down on my hope to go with Omenihu and Arden Key in FA, put faith in the continued development of Drake Jackson, and look to go EDGE early in next year's draft. Something like:

R1: Olu Fashanu, OT
R2: Laiatu Latu, EDGE
R3: Christian Mahogany, OG
R3: Jalen Catalon, C
R3: Brandon Dorlus / Tyler Davis, IDL

But if we do draft edge this year, Yaya Diaby is someone I'm going back to the tape on...> 260 lbs, 34" arms, 10.5" hands with top end explosion (37" vert, 10' broad) and absolutely elite burst (1.56 10yard)

Honestly, I somewhat agree with him not being a first-rounder. Likely only a function of this subsection of the forum not being very active, but I think I was the first to mention Van Ness very early in the college football season, and I had him as a late day two at best pick, before anyone in the media/twittersphere even mentioned him, and then all of a sudden the big names in the draftnik community are putting him in the top 100 and then the top 50 and then the top 32 and now the top 20. That said, I don't think him not starting should be held too much against him; Iowa is just one of those schools where they really prefer to stick to their pecking order of class seniority. It's worth vetting with the coaching staff that it wasn't an issue of conditioning, but I don't see any worries with his gameplay that would suggest he wasn't ready to be a three-down player. He's fine versus the run, and obviously has his most value versus the pass. That said, I really wasn't expecting him to test as well as he did, even though a lot of people in the know said that he would. He looks like a one-trick pony to me, albeit a very good trick with his ability to convert speed to power and just absolutely demolish guys as he runs through them, but I didn't see much else ability to win. I didn't even think he looked particularly smooth or heavy-handed in the drills that were live to view on TV, so his agility numbers, while undeniably impressive, werer quite a surprise. I guess that the noise is true, his perceived upside with that power and now testing numbers, are going to be too much for a team in the late first to pass on.

This is what DJ said about it…

"I know a lot of people are sitting there going, 'How in the world are you going to take a guy (who didn't start) in the top 10,'" Jeremiah said. "I've done my homework. That's the way their program runs. They're going to run with the older upperclassmen, the leaders that have been in those spots. They're just going to roll those guys out there with starters, even though everybody knows this was their best guy."

I believe he had the second most snaps out of all the DL there regardless.
Adetomiwa: 27 reps. Keeps checking boxes

Yeah the 3-cone imo is one of the more important drills for EDGE. If I remember correctly Drake didn't crack the sub 7 cone either. I see this as a pretty deep draft at EDGE, not a ton of blue chip prospects though (overall not a ton of 1st rd grades for all the prospects).

I think they can find some good rotational DL this yr. I agree someone like YaYa is intriguing. He fits the mold of what they like at DE.

Sounds like we've met formally with a bunch of TEs, which makes sense it's probably one of the deepest position groups in this draft. Adam Peters backup that statement the other day.

If anyone is putting a mock together you'd better have a TE going to SF at some point
