Miscues and missed opportunities doom 49ers in 29-17 loss to Dolphins →

You're Demeco Ryans

Just saw they have the #2 and #12 picks of the draft. Very similar situation to what Kyle and John had their first year except 49ers traded up into the end of the 1st to get their second 1st rounder.

You have total control of the Texans what are you doing at 2 and 12? Are you going to learn from Kyle's mistake and go get your QB or are you going to maybe sign Jimmy G? Remember Kyle wanted Cousins but knew it was going to be a year from then.

All options on the table.

Here is what I would do:

#2 Will Anderson, DE. I'm not in love with any of the QBs at 2 and I'm assuming someone trades up to #1 to select a QB. I go get Jimmy G to be my bridge QB. And no I did not learn my lesson when Kyle didn't draft a QB his first year.

#12 Anthony Richardson, QB. Oozes talent but still is very raw. Needs to sit a year and can since I got Jimmy G. If he isn't there at 12 I'd go Darnell Wright, OT and play him at G. Can't go wrong building a stout OL.
I'm not really too high on Jalen or Will, NOT top 5 in my personal opinion.

So IF I'm running the show, and Chicago stays with Fields, then I'll take Young and keep my current starting QB (Mills).

IF Chicago takes Young, then I'd trade down w/either Indy or Detroit or even Atlanta.

I'd only take Jalen or Will between 6 to the 10th spot.

and if I want a QB, I would call SF and ask about Trey Lance.
If I'm Demeco....

HOPEFULLY Pete is in love with Stroud and/Or Young. I'm able to trade #2 for #5 and #20 (even if I have to give up a middle round pick)
#5. Willie Anderson or Jalen Carter (pending his involvement). If both are gone I go with best DE to fit Ryans defense or trade down again.

For this exercise Jalen Carter is cleared and I take him #5.

#12 Jaxon Smith Njigba

#20 Hendon Hooker should be running by end of March. Cleared by trading camp.

Then with rest of my picks I'd be getting that defense and OL up to form.
Great thread.. was listening to this discussion on the ol radio either KNBR or ESPN can't remember.. however..

they talked about QB at 2.. look the team is not good, and QB getting that clock started on the rook deal with a poor cast..

here's what I do..

Sign someone to run the offense like Mariota, Minshew, Lock, Baker, etc. Maybe draft round 5-7 QB.

Try and land Anderson at 2 overall. Any luck on that one and you get a elite pass rusher. Then double down on D with pick 12. Both front seven picks. Secondary, they have the young talent in place already.
I would also drop my pants tell the entire room.. I WANT WINNERS

it's how it's done

What if not one single team is willing to trade with you and Young is off the board? Who are you taking at 2?

Young at 5'10 and 190 or whatever it is.. he may really fall down.. QB board not at all figured yet tbh.. just my opinion

I agree to a certain extent but part of me thinks QBs are so hard to find and coaches only have a small window to find one. Why not draft one every year until you hit? Especially if you have 2 picks in the first round. I guess that's why I did my mock the way I did. Get a bridge QB and let the rookie sit a year. By next year you should have an idea if that guy can develop or not. If not rinse and repeat.

i think Jimmy G would be great. With his injury history the rookie will surely get some playing time too but not sure if Jimmy wants to go to a rebuilding team.
Would not take a QB this year, bring in a veteran and draft front 7 and several oline. I would copy the Bosa draft and get pass rush and build from there.

IF no single team wants to trade up to my spot (Houston), I'd take Ohio State QB and an OT w/my next 1st rounder.
From what we've seen in SF my take is that Ryans is top tier defensive coach.. How will he handle the offensive side?
Offer #34 and #74 for Trey Lance. Sign minshew as a part time starter or backup. Trade down with either raiders or Panthers. Take Tyree Wilson with first pick and Broderick Jones with second.

That's up to Bobby Slowik who will try to run a Shanahan type offense, they got a damn good start with Dameon Pierce. If I'm Houston I'd make an offer for Trey Lance and send the pick #33, #104 and Desmond King. f**k it, offer the #12 overall pick for Brock Purdy!!!!

Nice mock. Who will be the Texans day 1 starter at QB?

I'd get Jimmy G he knows the offense. 49ers arent trading Lance with the uncertainty behind Brock and plus Brock is untradeable since he cant pass a physical.
