So why didn't the Texans take the cheaper guy first and then trade up for Stroud?

I guess maybe the draft cost would be higher? But isn't QB salary higher? Someone who knows the salary schedule for rooks please elaborate.

Because the Titans wanted to trade up to #3 for Stroud

Yeah, not to mention the current draft pick has more value than a future one. seems like very equivalent to what we gave up.

Well the low second rounder is essentially our first round pick this year - both of the first rounders we traded were end of first round

Texans did the exact right thing, get their quarterback and get the guy that rushes the quarterback. Remains to be seen if they prove their draft status but that's smart as you can be.
