Been saying this all along and it was only 15 picks away from where we drafted ours.

And we didn't trade up for ours.
Get ready for us to draft a QB.

....well,...one day, we've gotta see him play.

You can't really predict a guy never having a real opportunity to play after 2 years on the roster and if you did, you certainly wouldn't draft him in the 1st round.

But when is hindsight not 20/20?

Regardless of what, we can't judge Lance until he has some extended time on the field,...and that's whether he's here or somewhere else.

Moody was never gonna make it to the Niners. And neither was Ryland. Elite pick by Lynch. Got ahead of it.

EVEN if Moody wasn't going to be there, you can't say that we had other needs who were sitting there.. PK can be found anywhere..

Did any of the players they drafted fill "immediate holes" or starter positions? Of course not, but there's no arguing that they didn't make their team better. They're having the best draft of any team despite already having a top three NFL roster. All this "we really needed a kicker, only open spot!" is bogus. Unless Latu completely surprised, there are inexpensive options with similar tools available in free agency every year. Corners, linemen, pass rushers? Not so much

We actually did need a kicker because Gonsalez may be a head case and the the kid from Michigan can kick it deep improving our ST. Not sure about the 3rd round though.

I remember years ago on this board how bad we roasted the team for drafting a RB that had ACL surgery on both knees. Frank Gore turned out all right. It's a crap shoot and I'm hoping for more late round gems because that's where we seem to hit on.

I'll just continue to preach process over results. For all we know Moody will become the greatest pick ever and every eagle pick will bust out of the league.

As an aside: it is not inaccurate to say that Moody will not be there if we waiting til the 5th. My point is: who cares!

Kyle and John obviously care about the position. having consistency at that particular position is more important than wHo CaR3s!!

This draft is frustrating

What did you expect when the first pick wasn't until #99. Remember we got CMC last year and that's why we didn't have a 2nd rounder. The picks we lost when we moved up to take Lance ended up being late 1st rounders. None of the guys selected there would have made a big impact on this team. If Trey had stayed healthy we might be looking at one of the better young QBs in the NFC. Instead we're looking at a 3rd year player that still has to prove he can play. I still think the risk was worth taking. Sometimes risky moves work and sometimes they don't but if you have to go for it once in awhile.

I'm not complaining about the Lance or CMC capital given up; I loved both. I'm just frustrated with our picks so far, but I'll never judge any player until giving them a chance on the field.

Naturally. If the first one goes in the 3rd, it drives up the round for everyone else to make their ST picks.

Right? You can bring in 8 kickers on a tryout with big legs with the highest of stakes and find out who can perform and who can't. Next.

Hoping this is a joke but in all likelihood, it's not.

he was handed the starting position. he got hurt. stop claiming he didnt get any real opportunities.

Unless Latu completely surprises, that's a major mistep as well. There are inexpensive options with similar tools available in free agency every year. Corners, linemen, pass rushers? Not so much
On paper all that's true, and I'm beyond disappointed with how the 49ers have handled the draft upto this point, but we have no clue how these guys the Eagles selected will pan out Carter has character concerns,Harrison has injury concerns all these guys could fail to pan out for various reasons.

Any position can be.

Great argument. Your response to the opinion that Kyle and John over valued Jake Moody (or really, undervalued other positions) is to repeat that they valued Moody. Makes sense, clears things up.

Agree but there's absolutely no way Moody would have made it to us at 150.

Yeah man the Pats gave up a 3rd next year in the trade. So they spent a 3rd and 4th on him; for sure they would've took Moody had we not taken him
It looks like it was a straight trade of a 2024 3rd to get eagles the 2023 4th? I'd have personally done that all day for Dawand Jones; a gamble id be willing to take
