The ignore the mahomes, Watson, mccaffery types. If it's not Bosa we suck at drafting early as well. They don't bother drafting guys that were ranked in the top 50 and dropped. The reach for someone they fell in love with that's slated to go later. Banks drafted in 2nd was a 4/5 guy. Ambry Thomas drafted in 3rd was a 5. Latu is the latest example. I got so excited thinking they traded up for Darnell Washington. I think brown, who I like woulda been there at 99. Moody pick I don't love but I can justify it. I like ryland better tho. Latu pick is what I'll be complaining about until he leaves after his first contract. Won't be surprised if the 2nd TE we drafted ends up better. Day 3 we threw darts at traits. Their late round history gives me some hope. We just basically suck until round 4/5.

The teams that can beat us drafted well. Philly particularly.

I could see moody working out, Luter, Beal. And the UDFA tackle and running back intrigue.

I can't get mad anymore. We don't draft well day 1/2. Facts
It's painfully obvious someone else is making the pics on day three. Not just this year you can look back at all the drafts from this regime.

that when KS takes a back seat, less likely to pound the table for 'his guys'
Warner is the only 3rd they got right. Most have been beyond busts. And Ambry Thomas is gone this year imo

I think we all know who's responsible for those day 3 picks.

Those are exceptions to the norm for the qb position. Most great qbs like mahommes, Elway and peyton were high draft picks.

Point is the draft investment doesn't matter. If he's a NFL caliber kicker do we care that we spent a very late 3? After taking Sermon and TDP back to back years in round 3? Sermon was a 3 he isn't even on the team he's long gone.

Facts

So far 1/9 third rounders have worked out, Warner being the only one. We currently have 3 that isnt included in that 9 - Ambry Thomas, David-Price, & Danny Gray.

now we added Brown, Moody, & Latu. Honestly, I'm much more optimistic about this years bunch. I really like the Brown pick - I think he will be better than huff. Moody may not be "good value" as a kicker in the third but I think he will be an awesome kicker for us and make a difference on special teams (specifically touchbacks and hangtime), Latu is the one that I think is the biggest wild card and has the biggest bust potential, but I like what he brings to the table for our offense.

Witherspoon was pretty decent and helped net a comp pick at least. It's a real weak spot though, but we more than make up for it on Day 3
I wonder if the quality UDFA QBs didn't choose to sign here because of the depth we have here.

realistically, I wouldn't want to come here right now. Odds of any UDFA QB making the roster is extremely slim. Their best hope would be practice squad, and even then idk if we would waste one of those spots on a qb if all three of ours are healthy. I'd target somewhere with a much weaker situation (like the Bucs) because I'd have a much better chance of making the roster.
Spears's knee is FUBAR.

Ian Rapoport reported on the NFL Network that Spears suffered two torn ACLs in his past. At the NFL Combine, tests revealed a full thickness cartilage loss, and no ACL in his knee. Additionally, Spears has arthritis. Rapoport said it's unclear how long he will be able to play in the NFL, and even openly wondered if Spears could be a "one-contract guy."

Except Spears literally has no ACL in one of his knees. He's bone on bone already. It'll be something if he can make it three full seasons.
