Of course, it's unlikely but anything could happen. Just like Purdy doing what he did was highly unlikely and unexpected.

What's happened here qb wise over the last 6 years, nothings for sure

Solomon Thomas, yea I could see a pass given there. One bad pick at the top of round 1 during your first year, it happens.

3 first rounders and a 3rd is a fireable offense, too reckless no matter what you did with late round picks. The only guys that could get away with something like that would be BB or Andy Reid. Guys who bring in Super Bowl trophies.

Clearly Kyle and Co. are going to get away with it unless Brock has a major regression and Darnold can't salvage his career here.

I agree with your description of the trade, though not the broad analogy you're using and your overall conclusion. It was extremely reckless and horrific strategy.

If this isn't a fireable offense, we have no accountability.

If Lance does bust, our track record for burning first rounders would be pretty f**king bad.

I think in this case it might have more to do with Kyle messing up on developing him than Trey himself. Kyle put no work in on helping Trey get to the next level. Sitting him year 1 for Jimmy G of all people was beyond stupid. Especially considering that the reason you traded all that draft capital was because you weren't happy with your current QB.

Strongly disagree. Letting Lance sit was a great thing, it was obvious Jimmy was better than him. Lance is probably the highest drafted guy that is that raw. Except maybe now Richardson

kyle then handed Lance the keys but he got injured.

idk how it's kyles fault. Lol if you want to blame anyone, blame Purdy for balling out and winning everyone over to the point where they didn't see it worth going back to Lance.

Well you could fault Kyle for running Trey so much. And if that's all Trey could do in year 2 of Kyles system then either it's an indictment of Kyle not preparing him or Trey not being worth what they gave up for him.

Seeing how Kyle is a great offensive mind and plays to whay his players do well and away from what they dont, I personally would guess it's Trey not being capable at the time.

i think Kyle knew that and was trying to get him experience so he could grow. Then he got injured.

but I hated those runs and they weren't good for anything.

There is no science to drafting QBs, that much we know. I wouldn't fire Kyle over this, odds are not in your favor to fare better and it's not going to go over well with your locker room.

I don't make knee-jerk reactions, I would personally look at and weigh the entire body of work before making rash decisions.
I wonder how many trades usually happen in the first. This year seemed to have quite a bit
these dudes must be sitting at home with 32 hats. how else would he have the correct hat? does the NFL supply the hats?

I agree with you but find the QB approach in the 2021 off-season very unsettling. "Lets trade a bunch of picks for Stafford!"

Oh crap the Rams beat us to it.

"Ok let's try to trade a bunch for Rodgers! He is also a proven QB who can take this team to a SB win"

Crap that's not working either.

"Ok, let's take all those picks and trade up 9 spots to #3 overall, then figure out who to take... maybe the raw guy we will have to develop"

Yet they may end up with the best draft pick in NFL history.

Best laid plans sometimes

It amuses me how keen some people are to see Lynch and Shanahan fired. The draft is a lottery. People don't get fired for failing to win a lottery. The rebuild job they did was and continues to be remarkable. And that is what matters.
no way Saints go QB after landing Carr, right
that means Hooker and Levis rnd 2.. i am surprised
they just got him cuz his name is close to Brees

Rams gonna grab one of those guys at 5 IMO.
Least Hooker is at home; Levis gonna have to sleep in the green room I guess
Eagles gonna go Jalen Carter/Nolan Smith???? Great
