Well yeah they had multiple 1st rd picks (both top 10) I would expect that

Patriots and Cardinals also had a great day

What's so great about wha tthe Pats and Cards did? The Pats got a good DB and the Cards got an OT for Ohio State. That's fine but I don't see anything special about what they did. One pick ech and neither one is likely to make a big impact right away.

Philly getting 2 guys from Georgia is just plain crazy. They probably couldn't believe it when Nolan Smith fell to them. The Seahawks look good on paper but Njiba was hurt in 2022 and only played 3 games. Like any wide receiver, they often are injury prone and complete diva's.

The Cardinals own the first round pick from the Texans next year who will be starting a rookie QB with a rookie head coach. The Patriots traded back and still landed the top CB in the draft . Yes the teams who had 2 1sts round picks had good drafts. That's usually how it goes.
I do not like the Lions draft at all. Two picks in the top 18 and they come away with a RB and ILB.

I thought the Lions had a great first round.

True. I can understand moving off of Swift but I doubt they had to take the RB that early. And then they went need at LBer when they could have probably got him in the 2nd.

The more I think about it I don't think Gibbs is so much of a reach when you consider Bijan went #8, and some teams I am sure had Gibbs ahead of Bijan..

DET is gonna have a fun O, particularly when they get Williams back from suspension, teams can probably get Swift for a mid round pick, also
Eagles killed it in the 1st. Sheezus.

I hated every minute of it, but you are 100% correct.

I'll put this out here, which do you prefer

CJ Stroud
Will Anderson
no 1st in 2024

or

CJ Stroud
JSN
1st in 2024

I like the bottom option better, this is a poor team that needs a lot of work and will be drafting early next year, JSN gives a needed receiver and has day 1 chemistry with CJ, college teammates.

I liked it when it happened but looking at the board now they could have taking Anderson at 2.
Reminds me of the 49ers taking Lance, the pre draft talk hype forced them to move up.

Anderson
Gonzalez or JSN
Levis or Hooker
2024 top ten pick
or
Stroud
Anderson
No 2024 top ten pick
Cards now how two chances now to land the #1 overall pick next year and draft freaking Caleb Williams.

I'm not high on Stroud and Houston could have the worst record in the NFL and the Cards could also compete for that. Either one gives them Williams which would be an absolute disaster.

Sigh.

Someone assuage my concerns over this possibility please. Thanks in advance.

that is another interesting scenario, Anderson at 2, and you can even fall back from like 12 to 20 and land those other QBs

one prob I see with Levis or Hooker for Houston, is the Texans are asking their rook QB to start week 1. I don't know if Hooker or Levis can do that, Hooker has the injury.

this happens when an organization does not try to out-smart themselves..

Could be a blessing though. I don't know if Kylers contract will allow them to move off of him and there's no way they would trade a top pick to the Rams or Seahawks for Williams.

It just all depends how the players shake out. We assume every 1st rd draft pick isn't a bust but in reality over half arent worth where they are drafted. They had four 1st round picks in 2023 and 2024 right? If they end of with Stroud, Anderson and one of their 2024 picks and Stround/Anderson turn out to be cornerstone pieces then the trade was well worth it. The chances are slim hitting on all 4 of their original picks. You can go back and take any teams previous 4 first round picks and you'd be hard pressed to see a team hit on all of them.

I like the trade.

They have a first next year though, they have the browns I believe. From the watson trade.

Yup, maybe I should have worded as 2 firsts in 2024 vs 1 first.. I feel their own first is especially important, as they will be starting the rook HC and QB, not CLE..

You are right they have the Browns pick in 2024 round 1 but they no longer have their own pick, Arizona has it now

I think they just value anderson as a corner piece and JSN as a good player but not a cornerstone.

i think it was a good move, there is risk of course, but they got one of the safest players in the draft that is a blue chip.

im sure they view it as they got future leader of their defense and offense. It's not a bad trade, IMO.

if they are a bottom 5 team this year, then yeah, big loss. Just have to see how things work out.

But the Texans do have a 1st rd pick in 2024. They still have the Browns 1st from the Watson trade.

CJ Stroud

Also i'm not big on bringing in a WR until you have the other pieces. Plus they can get some good WRs that can produce in rds 2 and 3.

You're assuming levis and hooker will be good, odds are they may never even start a game in the nfl. I don't think either would be good starting QBs, def not in the near future.
