CJ Stroud

1st in 2024

Also i'm not big on bringing in a WR until you have the other pieces. Plus they can get some good WRs that can produce in rds 2 and 3.

for me as soon as you draft a QB, 2 overall, get him protection, which HOU kinda has, and weapons, which HOU doesn't have much of.. they can still address it later, but I prefer the JSN and 2 twos next year approach, CJ would have been stoked to go in with his college buddy, but I am sure Ryans is stoked to have his Bama buddy.

I think they just value anderson as a corner piece and JSN as a good player but not a cornerstone.

i think it was a good move, there is risk of course, but they got one of the safest players in the draft that is a blue chip.

im sure they view it as they got future leader of their defense and offense. It's not a bad trade, IMO.

if they are a bottom 5 team this year, then yeah, big loss. Just have to see how things work out.

I agree. If Stroud, Anderson, and JSN turn out as cornerstones i'd rather have the the Stroud/Anderson combo trumps the Stroud/JSN duo by a mile.

Another factor is this could very well be their GM's last draft. He cant worry about the draft picks next year. He needs to show the team is improving now.

Yeah we just differ on opinions.

Still think EDGE > WR

Reminds me of the 49ers taking Lance, the pre draft talk hype forced them to move up.

Anderson
Gonzalez or JSN
Levis or Hooker
2024 top ten pick
or
Stroud
Anderson
No 2024 top ten pick

that is another interesting scenario, Anderson at 2, and you can even fall back from like 12 to 20 and land those other QBs

one prob I see with Levis or Hooker for Houston, is the Texans are asking their rook QB to start week 1. I don't know if Hooker or Levis can do that, Hooker has the injury.

You're assuming levis and hooker will be good, odds are they may never even start a game in the nfl. I don't think either would be good starting QBs, def not in the near future.

it's easier to make the list above because we saw the result of the 1st round.. but had you gone the Anderson way first, there is no guarantee that Levis or Hooker may still be available.. Had both been drafted, then what ??

Personally, I would not have gone back up to draft Anderson just because I like Tyree more.. I would have done a

CJ then Tyree, but not as the 3rd overall pick..

Besides Warner, 3rd rounders haven't been panning out well for the 49ers. Do something good this year.

trade up for Mauch and if Schmitz (Minnesota) is there, then we are set at the OL for years to come..

Oh it will be Sean Tucker
The feeling going int the draft was there were abut 12-14 legitimate 1st round picks in the draft. After that everyone was a projection. This wasn't a great draft loaded with a ton of "can't miss" guys. Before the combine there was a feeling that there really wasn't a top 10 QB and look what happened. As usual teams panic and over reach for QBs. Young is tiny. Stroud had 17 starts and was surrounded by great talent. Anthony Richardson is a real gamble at #4. More than Trey was. At least Trey played well in his limited action. Richardson was all over the place. Terrible accuracy. The Colts have a lot of work to do with him.

The Niners will have to wait for about 67 guys to get chosen before they're turn comes up unless they move up. That's over 5 hours if you average 5-6 minutes per team. That's 9:00 PM our time.

Ahhh, that made me laugh.
I do agree with all the people mocking Marte Mapu to the 49ers. On and off the field he's an outstanding fit.
