Brenden Rice

I don't know where Rice lands in the draft, but the dude measured well.

Official: 6-2, 212 pounds, 4.51 40 yard dash. 78.5 inch wingspan, 9.5 inch hands.

Pretty good I think. He seemed to be a pretty good player. Better than Colorado. Because he was surrounded by better players at USC. I don't think he lives up to his father. But he's not nothing either. He's a real good player.

I watched a few USC games this year, that team had some talent on it....

Rice does seem to cut at near full speed, I would bet he has been training on rout running for a long long time. Probably the thing that stood out to me the most was how he stays an option when the play breaks down. He does find open ground and gives the QB somewhere to go with the ball.

The dude does looking like a monster standing between Rice and Micheal Irving.

I think I am with you on Rice, or McCaffery....I dont know how they stack up to other players....but they are not nothing....for sure.

I think I like McCaffery and Rice mostly because they seem to understand the needs of the play. They are thinkers. The YouTube videos are chock full of 3rd down catches, or short yardage TD catches. They seem productive.
f**k it take him in the 3rd

I kind of wonder if we can trade back, still get a top flight guard at the top of the 2nd, then have an extra day 3 pick. I honestly want both Rice and McCaffery. I think both would work well with what Brock does. Also gives us flexibility at the receiver position post 2024.

I like them both too

Maybe stuff has changed, but there was speculation that LMC could go undrafted...I dont know if his combine changed that

Rice appears to be rarer...I think he has the second or third (depending on what you want) best frame of the popular prospects (hand size, arm length, wingspan, height). There might be better size, but they are not dudes who show up on most the scouting sites. He might not be elite at stopping and coming back for the ball, but the dude really does cut at full speed....and.....runs a good/great slant rout like his father did.

I would hate to draft both and have them sit around the roster and do nothing like some other WR picks the 49ers have made. I think Rice makes better sense for the 49ers, but LMC could plug right in as a gadget guy and take the wear and tear off of Deebo.

I think if we somehow had both, I wouldn't expect a lot initially. They would be 4th and 5th receivers. I dont think the receivers after the top 3 combined for 300 yards. With that said, I think they could contribute immediately and give us the flexibility to let Deebo's contract play out. Not on the trade Deebo train but don't think we need two receivers making north of 20 million in this offense. No way they thought Aiyuk would be this good. It's a great problem to have.

With that said, I think both Rice and McCaffery could help elevate this offense and would work well with Brock's game. Rice in the 3rd or 4th. McCaffery in the 4th or 5th. The best part is two smart players on cost controlled contracts for the next 4 years. This team needs an influx of rookies to keep the team sustainable financially and to stay winning.

Honestly it feels like they are both going to be subpar at the next level. Just don't see the spark. Rice is better than his brother but that's not saying much and McCaffrey looks like a special teamer at best. Gore Jr is the only one that I feel good about and thats while taking him no earlier than the 6th round.

In a deep draft, overdrafting guys based on their last name isn't really a great approach.

No thanks. Thats too high in my opinion especially with our needs on both lines and at corner. 5th rd yes but that is as high as I would go

Too high for him or just WR in general? The more I read on him the more I like. I watch a ton of USC, but for the life of me can't remember seeing him

If we're thinking about last name, I think you take McCaffrey's into consideration because that family is obsessed about football and honing their craft.

Didn't really help Max's career a whole lot. I wouldn't draft any of these guys before the 5th round.

Where there needs to be a baseline level of talent to hone. I don't watch college ball so can't speak to what differentiates Max VS Luke, but if anyone will outperform their draft position, I'd bet on a McCaffrey.
