Malachi Corley - WR Western Kentucky

I was watching Niner videos on YouTube, and saw that Lombardi made a highlight short of Malachi. Enjoy

I wonder if the hype propels this guy into the 1st. I would love to snag him to replace Deebo in the future, but it depends who's available when we're up.

Close to a zero chance of that, in my opinion.

Yeah I don't see that at all

This.

Absolutely not a high chance -- I was trying to convey that I wonder if some crazy team gets obsessed with his attributes, thinks they're getting the next Deebo (and to be fair, they could be right), and makes a shocker move.

There's a lot of top 50 caliber receivers and linemen that will be in super high demand. I think he's a firm second rounder, grading him a top 50 talent and have yet to see anything to change that grade. Depending on how the chips fall, I would be super surprised to see him go outside the top 75.

That seems to be the consensus from nearly every draft source I've looked at too, so it does make me wonder if he could be one of those surprises. Troy Franklin looks like a late first, top 50 guy also, and Adonai Mitchell is another strong talent that I think might be hard for us to pass on if he somehow made it to our 2nd.

Steve Smith loves this kid. Says he will be the steal of the draft.

He really is the closest thing to Deebo in this draft. Potentially amazing weapon for a very creative playcaller.

That has a limited route tree and needs to be schemed open, yup Deebo 2.0

I really like this dude. I loved Deebo coming out, and Corley definitely reminds me of him in a lot of ways.

I think he'd be more of a BPA pick with the future in mind than a player than can come in and help the 49ers in the present. He doesn't address a single hole at receiver right now, and his skillset is redundant with Deebo around. Not sure it's a great idea to bring in another guy that does what guys like Deebo and CMC already do, but I won't argue with BPA aslong as it's truly BPA. I'm just having a difficult time envisioning how he gets on the field and makes an impact barring an injury to Deebo or in the slot with Jauan--but even then the 49ers play primarily out of 21 personnel.

It's kind of hard to be a fan of drafting a WR that maintains the status quo and has no impact on how the elite team's defend the 49ers' offense. They have to adjust to what those teams are doing to them, and this type of player allows for the same strategy to be executed against Shanny's offense by teams like Chiefs and Ravens. Also, Mike MacDonald is in the NFCW now, so they're only going to build on that defensive philosophy to stop the Niners.

I think its a situation where they will contemplate what Deebo's future looks like with the team. Do they see him sticking with the team for one more year, two, three more years...etc? If its short term then someone like Corley might very well make sense since you're not going to find a guy like that in every draft.

I also expect them to draft multiple receivers. Aiyuk's future is uncertain, Ray Ray is gone, Gray has done nothing and there's no reason to be optimistic that he will, Jennings looks to be done after next season and depending on how they look at it, Deebo may or may not have a long term future here, especially if they decide to give Aiyuk the bag.
