After the offseason workout circuit he'll likely settle in somewhere between late 2nd and late 3rd. I expect him to turn some heads at the Senior Bowl with his route running ability. He's so crisp and natural in how he makes his cuts, he'll be a great fit for any precision passing offense.
Came in smaller than expected, gonna hit his draft stock but the Tank Dell comparisons seem even more uncanny now.

Still think he'd make for an outstanding slot weapon in this offense.

This guy's going to be so freaking dangerous in the slot.
Cowing checked in at 168 at the combine. 5-8 168 is totally good with me for a slot guy.
He tested quite poorly for a slot only guy measuring 5'8 168 lbs

By what measure? It looks like he ranked top 10 overall among combine wideouts.
I'm not saying testing is everything, far from it, but if you're an outlier in size (for the wrong reason) I need something to hang my hat on.

I feel like we can hang our hat on the tape. I think his draft profile is dead on. There really aren't many major knocks on him outside of his size and some minor refinements on routes. Isn't great at catching in traffic due to his size, but plays bigger than his size when the ball is in his hands.

He feasts on off coverage, and uses his speed to destroy angles in the open field. But at 168 lbs, sub 30 arms, and sub par agilities and explosives giving context to questions about separation ability vs tight coverage, I have doubts about how it translates. His utilization in the NFL will be limited unless he can also carve out a role as a return specialist.

I think it will depend how he's utilized. A team like ours, KC, Miami, or LA would be great fits for him. Maybe even Dallas. I think he will struggle against good man corners with length if he's forced to go head on with press, but the league is shifting to these motion headstarts we saw Miami doing with Hill. We tried it some with Deebo but he's not as fast nor the best man beater either.

Small catch radius yes, but great hands for JC.

Ultimately, yes, not the perfect prospect but one I think offers good value in the middle rounds. Hopefully we get a quality guy somewhere in this class. There's a lot of prospects I like.

Nothing against this dude specifically, but I hope the 49ers don't go back to tiny slot receivers. Jauan Jennings has changed my outlook on the slot position. Having a big slot is a massive advantage on the field. The overwhelming majority of nickel DBs are tiny, so having a bigger receiver that can straight up bully them is a huge advantage in the run game. Additionally, it's incredibly helpful to Brock since he's a shorter quarterback with really short arms. Being a hair under 6-1 with 29" arms, he doesn't always get a clean window to throw through or an optimal release point. There are plays every single game where the ball is going to come out a little higher or off target than preferred, and that's where having that big slot is so beneficial. How many times have did Jauan climb the ladder or snag away a contested pass this season for Brock? If they're serious about building around Brock, don't take away that strength.

The biggest need at receiver is speed on the outside. Someone that can take snaps at the XWR or ZWR and punish man coverage.

Cowing is 5-8, but Worthy is the one 6-1.

I think I'd like to have both a big and little slot. If you are going against an Isaiah Oliver in the slot, Cowing would destroy him.

I agree that we need someone who can play both X and Z though

Question, does Cowing have any special teams upside? Can't find anything about that online.

That is fine...just means you have to cover the line with the TE or shift the flanker up...
