You know he's a converted WR right? Dude was a QB

Don't hate me for this, but I don't think Luke is going to be great in the pros. He just doesn't separate well enough. He is not an athletic mismatch either. He is not CMC.
A solid college player, but man.. even against the level of competition at Rice, it hasn't been all that great overall, and I unfortunately just don't see much that translates to being a great pro NFL player based on what I saw earlier this year when I was scouting him. He might have a Jauan Jennings type of trajectory though, and there's nothing wrong with that.
I get the lack or wow....
I think if he makes it, it will be as one of those guys that finds soft areas of coverage in zones, or shields defends off with his body. He does seem to have better than average hand eye coordination, dude has quite a few big time catches with almost no space between him and the defender.
I would think a ton of his perceived value would come from how many balls he has dropped. I have no idea what that number is, but he appears sure handed on YouTube.

yeah...NFL is littered with converted ex-QBs...some times it is more obvious why they are ex-QBs.
I have seen all of one pass by the guy...but that one pass looked good.

A big slot receiver that's a former QB. It's an omen for the 49ers to draft him.

lol.....
we have had our share of ex-qbs
watched just about everything on the guy...I like the dude...don't know how great he is...but not many dudes know where the ball is going to be like he does. Dude finds the ball....really really well....add in his ability to catch in traffic...I would take a late flyer on him. He needs to be the best rout runner he can be if he wants NFL success...he is one of those have to be scemed open type guys I think....but I really suspect he will catch it if you give him a chance.
Watch him go to the Rams

being sarcastic but I find it moronic that people think Frank Gore Jr. and Brendan Rice are about to be the second coming

Don't think it's moronic to be excited about the idea, we certainly shouldn't draft them just for their name but there are tons of examples of family's lineage excelling. The Mannings, Mathews, Longs, and Bosas all have several family members that were great. Theres countless more examples of sons of former greats doing well if not even greater

sure
Also, you might look at a guy because of his last name and find something to like about the dude.
Luke has his own talents...period.....that have nothing to do with his Dad or his Brother.
I would have never looked at the dude if his last name is different....100% true....not that it matters if random_poster_113 cares about a prospect, but once you do look at the guy...clearly the dude has talent.
Luke is clearly better than most at finding the ball, and catching it in traffic. Dude has really good concentration and eye/hand coordination. On top of that he has size, and just ran a decent 40 time..
On an offense that tends to scheme people open regularly.....you could do worse with a late draft pick.

I remember when some posters on here tried to say this about Nick Bosa.

Not saying Rice WR Luke McCaffrey is going to put up fantasy numbers like Puka Nacua did last year - no receiver in history of league has - but McCaffrey has as close to Puka's nuanced QB-friendly game as anyone in this loaded WR class.
