2024 Draft Class: IDL

Has been killing it at the East West Shrine Game. 6'2", 320 pounds, monster that has shown no issue handling higher level competition. Would love to have been able to seen him go at the Senior Bowl but he's already made himself a lot of money.

no thanks. I doubt he falls to the 2nd round and I want the Niners to draft either an OL or CB in the 1st. I have to believe there is a fatty DT who can stuff the run and will be available in the mid rounds.

It will probably be CB, I don't see the 49ers drafting O-line with the 1st pick since the O-line has played well enough to get all the way to the Super Bowl. If anything I think it will be between CB and DE. Because, I also don't see Chase Young and Randy Gregory back so they would lose some major depth there.

With this Argument, CB has played well enough to get us to the Super Bowl

They probably will go with whomever they have rated highest at one of those positions. That is unless someone they have rated pretty high at a position we don't expect unexpectedly slips.

I don't expect them to take someone like that. If he's big, he better be able to move like DJ Jones.

I seen #93 and had old nighmares of Gilbert Brown wreaking havoc to our Oline but yeah he definitely does not fit our mold of DT's

Yup, there's a lot of movement and running involved in this scheme due to the way offenses attack it. They can't just be a fat immovable blob.

DJ Jones was the perfect nose

Jones has a freaky combination of power and athleticism that isn't seen all that often. While his playing style is reminiscent of Grady Jarrett's, keep in mind that he's a bigger player. Despite his impressive play attributes, Jones failed to generate the production that his flashes on tape would indicate he's capable of. If a coach can unlock more consistency, Jones has a chance to flourish as a one-gapping nose with three-down ability.

This. OL, DL or CB hopefully. I'm less concerned about position and more about getting someone that can contribute immediately. No more projects.

What are your thoughts on maason smith?
When you're drafting last or next to last you're going to take whoever is the best value at the positions you feel need to be upgraded. Without a trade up they aren't getting one of the premier O linemen so CB or DT might be their best option.
Unless they address in free agency, their first two draft picks need to be OL and CB, or CB and OL. Either way, address these two positions of need first.......then get cute with the picks afterwards.
Any chance we could get this thread renamed to "2024 Draft Class: IDL" to match with the other positional discussion threads?
