Darius Robinson-DT/DE-Missouri

Great 49ers gift ideas
So turn between him and a OL at 31.
The more tape I watch, the more I am convinced that he won't be there at 31.

Lynch must be foaming at the mouth from the possibility of drafting yet another DL with our first pick.

Mel Kiper had him in his top 10.

Watch us draft a developmental offensive lineman over this future All-pro lol

That's how we roll

Suddenly the need for upgrading the O line is gone because of an impressive Senior Bowl by a DE. The 49ers can't keep falling in love with defensive players and not addressing the O line. Not when their QB is getting pressured like he is. This guy may be terrific but the 49ers can't get every player that looks great. They have needs that should be addressed.

Need over talent is rarely a good idea.

I'm not surprised. Has remarkable burst. Seems to rush with a plan.

I agree if you over reach for a need. If there is a good player available then I go with need. This is the best year in a long time for O line talent. If they don't address it then we'll be complaining again next year and the next and so on. Sooner or later they have to address it. They can get help in free agency but that costs more. They have looming cap issues that will need to be addressed.

I wish the 49ers could just get the best DE, the best CB, the best O lineman etc. The facts are they draft late in every round. They aren't going to get the best players. Period.

No one is saying to ignore the OL.

But the times we've gotten in trouble is drafting for need over BPA.

I hope we draft a multiple offensive lineman, but I want the best players available.

Never choose need over talent. If Robinson is on the board and he's BPA then that's the guy you go with and I've strongly been in favor of upgrading the OL but you also have to look at the team as a whole.

Armstead is getting up there in years and has injury issues, without him this defense is considerably less effective. Robinson would give you a future replacement that could contribute right off the bat as a rookie.

Agree BPA CB Cooper DeJean!

Even though the need to replace Armstead is coming soon.
For me i think the question is who would you take over Robinson that could still be potentially on the board at 31? According to the concensus big board (nflmockdatabase.com) these players are rated higher than Robinson (Robinson is climbing though) and are players i'd pick at 31 if still there. However i'm kinda turn between where I'd put Robinson on this list.

Taliese Fuaga - i think he goes top 20 but he is a RT and this class is stacked with OT)
Kool-Aid McKinstry - i think he is one of the best corners in the draft but this class is loaded with good corners
Quinyon Mitchell - fast riser who could be one of the 1st corners taken
Jackson Powers-Johnson - should be gone by 31 but NFL dont value centers so he may fall
Troy Fautanu - love him to replace Burford or McKivitz
Amarius Mims - high upside but limited exp is going to drop him near 31
Graham Barton - Reportedly can play anywhere on the OL

Id take all of these players over Robinson except for McKinsey. Barton would be a toss up

I agree, but I think I would add Fautanu to the list of Barton and Mckinstry. Not as high on him as others are.
