lol. Its a Jones fracture not Lisfranc.

FWIW I was listening to NFL radio on Sirius and they said they expected a 100% recovery from that injury it should not be a concern at all

Thoughts on Nate Wiggins? I haven't really watched him only from highlights and stuff, but how is he as a tackler? I think I much rather have Decamerion Richardson over Wiggins.

Elite athlete. Good to really good man-cover CB. Subpar in run support; not a fit for what the team has historically prioritized with DBs.

Yah I thought someone would say this. I didn't expect him to be strong in run defense with his 170 pound frame. The kid has got to put up at least 15 to 20 pounds. I also like Ennis Rakestraw Jr., the kid is feisty when he hits.
Keep in mind Wiggins is 20. He's 2 years younger then Q Mitchell. He has a top tier athletic profile. His RAS score would be through the roof if he got his weight up. Was 182 at his pro day after cutting for the combine for speed drills. His frame is slight, but no reason you couldn't get his playing weight to 190 with a full offseason. Part of tackling is demeanor and will and I'm not sure where he stands there, but if you are just worried about weight and strength, I think he can get him at least to Ambry levels with far superior cover abilities from the jump.

I'm worried about him staying healthy. And wasn't he just coming off a ACL injury?

Dude is never gonna be a good tackler. That's not in his DNA. If I'm calling plays I'm running at him all game.

our D is dependent of everyone being able to make sound tackles in space. We saw what happened in the playoffs when it wasn't happening.

Ability to tackling and health should be an issue. Not sure why anyone wants some of these toothpicks in the first (Wiggins/Worthy) it's kinda the opposite of the identity of this team overall.

Team identity is changing. We have a QB now on offense. We need receivers, not just blockers. We need guys who can get open. When you are looking at RTs, an absolute mauler in the run game would have been a good fit with Lance or Jimmy G, now we need someone that can pass protect and by time for Brock.
The defense is shifting as well. We are playing light packages. Lots of nickel. Our DTs are not run stuffers, they are pass rushers. We are trying to get to the QB with 4, we need corners that can cover. We are going to allow some running damage, but just dont want to give up big plays, and need to get off the field when we do have 3rd and longs. We are not winning games 17-10 any more.

I think you are forgetting where we are picking with your wishlist. If Wiggins was great at both, he'd go higher than Quinyon simply because of his competition. Wiggins was damn near close to 190 and can/probably will put on more good weight once in the league. lol how much you think Demo weighs??

I didn't even read this thread before replying in the other thread, but NY is right. I haven't even watched this CB, but reading about tackling issues are a major red flag in this defense. People need to consider what NFC teams the 49ers will have to go thru in 2024 to get to the SB starting with the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers.

2024 is the return of big personnel/run game. No weenies allowed on the field. I think one of the sneaky issues that will arise this season is a lot of these tiny LBs are about to get exposed, but that's a discussion for another thread.

This is our guy right here:

Loves tackling and holds himself accountable. Two takeaways that stood out to me.

Slow, press man corner in a zone scheme, ACL injury history, lightweight, RAS score is terrible. Not at 31.

The defense isn't shifting away from finding guys to tackle. It's hard enough to tackle in the league now…you saw what happened when we missed tackles in the playoffs.

You act like he's some elite level coverage guy…dude isn't Deion Sanders lolz. He's 170lbs who's gonna have to tackle guys like Derick Henry at the next level. That's part of the game. I'll just run to his side of the field every down and watch him get blocked out the way or get run over trying to tackle.

I don't want passive players with no dog. That hasn't been this team since day 1…and those guys that were like that, sat on the f**king butt bench.
