2024 Draft Class: OL

Looking at trade value, would a trade up to about 20 make sense to get a guy we really want? According to the trade chart, pick 20 is worth 800 and 31 is worth 600 and a future 2nd is about 270 (if valued as last pick in 2nd round in current year). Usually a trade up involves a slight overpay, so maybe 31 + a future 2nd to get up to somewhere around 20 might be worthwhile to grab tackle 3-4 instead of getting tackle 7-8.

At 31, you are hoping for someone you like slips past some teams or you are looking at a long term guy who mightn't be ready to start. If you trade up, you might have a chance at a higher calibre guy and more of a ready to start player. I suppose they can play it by ear on the day of the draft and move up if someone they like is available in that 20 range.

Would someone like Latham or Mims be available around that range? Is that a good plan?

I brought up this same scenario a couple weeks ago and some folks were not a fan, which I get.

IMO you could give a future second or a 3rd and one of those 3 4ths to move up with say the phins.

If they have conviction in one of those OTs I'm all for it. I'm not totally down with Latham, don't think he fits the scheme either. Mims or Fautanu and I would be happy.

I've already accepted that I will be underwhelmed with the outcome of this draft…just how it goes here lol
I'd be jumping up and down if we landed JC Latham. I wouldn't worry so much about what he can't do -- he's a true first round prospect for what he CAN do, and it's not like he's some incompetent plodder out there anyway.
I think anyone expecting an instant starter in round 1 should be ready to be disappointed. I don't see any position who is likely to come in and start day 1. That goes for even RT where I'm sure most would agree is our weakest starter.

I think any OLman we get unless we jump up in the first and maybe even then would climb their way up similar to what we saw out of Feleciano last year with Burford being the unquestioned starter into camp/week 1 and then getting pushed out towards the end of the season.

I'm so glad we checked out Layden Robinson. I really liked his tape. I felt like he stood out as one of the best on that OL.

😝
I'm going to be quite upset if we don't come away with atleast 2 OL picks in the first 4-5 rounds. For some reason this FO has been allergic to drafting OL early.

I would rather give up a 3rd and more this year rather than trade next year's 2nd round pick. From what I remember, 2nd round picks are the best value in the draft. Starter talent for much less pay.
