Building a team to beat the Kansas City Chiefs

With the way the league is changing I'm starting to feel that the interior is more crucial than ever, on offense and defense. Having elite tackles on the OL is great, but you can just do like what KC does and hold the s**t out of elite edge rushers to neutralize them and the refs definitely aren't going to call it all the time, or even most of the time.

On the OL you focus on having a top center like Baltimore, KC and Detroit that can quarterback the line and two stout guards on either side of them. On defense you need guys inside that can produce pressure up the middle and also eat up blockers to force the run game outside.

For a QB like Purdy you can follow what Payton did for years to help protect Brees too, build up the interior OL to give your smaller QB space and time to throw, continue to invest in pass catching backs and quality receiving TE's.

Very perceptive post that I completely agree with - all the way to the last part about Purdy and setting him up w/ the OL and pass catchers going forward a la NO had with Brees. Hopefully, the Niners will see things similarly because they've got one of the most talented rosters already and just need to key on some areas on O & D as mentioned here.

Football is a game where winning in the trenches consistently along with having a talented QB + skill position players will always lead to a winning formula. The Niners have most of this - just need to win more in the trenches with more interior talent on both sides.
Better protection. Better defensive scheme. More experience from Purdy. More trust in Purdy from shanahan.

run back nearly the same team and do the following:

improve right side of the oline
better depth at LB and Safety
Run the ball more

This to me is the top priority and I don't hear enough people talking about it. By just upgrading those two spots purdy would have more time to let the deep crossing routes develop and the run game gets better.
If you can hold and tackle people all the way to the ground (Warner) and not get called for it (KC) with this team it will be tough to beat. Almost impossible.
I gotta think that if Demeco Ryans was still the DC, SF wins that game decisively.

Unfortunately I agree with you
How to build a team that can beat the Chiefs? Bribe the refs. Chiefs got the tricky tacky holding call against the Eagles last year that helped them win, a Chief O-lineman was downfield on the final play of the game this year and no call from the officials. We all saw the No holding call when Bosa was being tackled in 2019 on the biggest play of the game. Bribe the officials.
Can you beat a team that is allowed to tackle people to the ground and get no call? Repeatedly so. Allowed to do forward laterals when getting tackled and no call. Called a "fumble" on the field. Can you beat a team that's this good with this much deeply unfair advantage from the refs. I'm not so sure anymore.

They had the team! Lol That's what makes this one so tough. EVERYTHING went our way. #1 seed, relatively healthy, signed Chase and Gregory, didn't have to play Lamar, down year for Chiefs, top roster in football, overcame huge road blocks, Brock started coming back in games, and they STILL couldn't win.

+1
And the playoff road to the SB was the just the Packers and Lions at home. Totally set up for this team and they still couldn't pull it off.

You are assuming Shanahan can win the Big Game.
